Troopers respond to homicide in Cooper Landing

A Cooper Landing man has been arrested on charges of first-degree murder after an altercation at his home early Thursday morning.

 

According to Alaska State Troopers, trooper dispatch in Soldotna received a call from Paul Vermillion, 30, of Cooper Landing, who said that there had been an altercation at his residence off of Snug Harbor Road, and an adult male was dead.

The deceased has been identified as Genghis Muskox, 27, of California.

According to troopers responding to the scene, Muskox suffered a gunshot wound that may have killed him.

Vermillion was arrested and transported to Wildwood Correctional Facility in Kenai.

State troopers and the Alaska Bureau of Investigation are still investigating.
