Soldotna man dead following crash in Homer

Alaska State Troopers reported today that a Soldotna man died in a single vehicle wreck this morning in Homer.

 

Trevor Cunningham, 29, was declared deceased at South Peninsula Hospital in Homer after being ejected during the crash. 

Cunningham was driving a commercial vehicle hauling drilling mud into Homer when it overturned and the tank separated from the frame, according to the report. 

Troopers responded to the accident near mile 9.5 of East End Road at about 10:25 a.m.

According the report, the Department of Environment Conservation was notified that some of the drilling mud spilled. The Kachemak Emergency Services Association responded and set out booms as a precaution to contain the spill. Commercial Vehicle Enforcement is also responding to the accident, according to the report.

Next of kin has been notified. Investigation is ongoing.
