Treadwell splits from campaign manager

Posted: March 20, 2014 - 8:20pm  |  Updated: March 20, 2014 - 9:21pm

JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) — Republican U.S. Senate hopeful Mead Treadwell has parted ways with his campaign manager.

Spokesman Fred Brown says it “frees up a lot of room” for Treadwell to focus on other areas and frees up the campaign’s finances.

In addition to parting ways with Adam Jones, Treadwell also said one of his spokesmen, Rick Gorka, also was leaving.

Brown says Treadwell has a strong campaign structure. But he says Treadwell wants Alaska donors, and going that route, there’s a limit to what you can raise.

Treadwell said long-time friend Peter Christensen would take over day-to-day leadership of the campaign until a new manager is named.

Treadwell Campaign

The reality of this Senate campaign is that it is a nationalized contest. It is over the control of the Senate. Mr. Treadwell is admirable in wanting to key on Alaska donors. However, Mr. Begich will be receiving a huge infusion of campaign donations from sources in the lower 48. Mr. Teadwell must face this reality or be sitting home next fall. Meanwhile, Mr. Begich will continue to carry the Obama administration's water, unfailingly.

Treadwell or any opponent of Begich has all the money they could ever dream of, free, from the Koch brothers et. al. Remember, those corporations are people too! Outside money is the rule for this election and Begich will be out spent 4 to 1 by Koch and friends, they have yet to begin to spend. The real money will go flying after the primary, no budget, no problem. Alaska is a cheap place to play for the Koch boys.
