Sterling man arrested after series of thefts

 

Alaska State Troopers arrested a Sterling man Wednesday night in connection with a series of burglaries in Sterling.

Seth Fulton, 29, of Sterling, is facing 15 charges related to breaking into homes, causing damage, trespassing and stealing cars and other items. Troopers wrote in an online dispatch that they were responding to a report of a burglary at a home off Scout Lake Loop Road around 5:50 p.m. Wednesday when they received another report of a car theft that just occurred at a nearby home.

Troopers located the car, a purple 2009 Buick Enclave, at a home outside Sterling, according to the dispatch. Upon investigating, troopers found that Fulton had broken into three buildings in the area of the first reported burglary and stolen multiple items, including the car, and attempted to break into a fourth. Troopers allege he destroyed property at all three locations as well, according to the dispatch.

“Additionally, Fulton was found to be impaired and under the influence of alcohol l when driving the stolen vehicle,” the dispatch states.

He is charged with two counts of burglary in the first degree, a class B felony; one count of attempted burglary in the first degree, a class B felony; one count of burglary in the second degree, a class C felony; two counts of criminal mischief in the third degree, a class C felony; one count of criminal mischief in the fourth degree, a class A misdemeanor; one count of vehicle theft in the first degree, a class C felony; two counts of theft in the fourth degree, a class B misdemeanor; four counts of criminal trespass in the first degree, a class A misdemeanor; and driving under the influence, a class A misdemeanor.

He was scheduled to be arraigned at the Kenai Courthouse on Thursday.
