Caring for the Kenai winners make a difference

Anya Hondel performs “Capt’n Conservation: Saving Energy One Lightbulb at a Time,” a puppet show which focuses on energy conservation, at Wednesday’s joint Kenai/Soldotna Chamber of Commerce luncheon. The project, which is accompanied by a coloring book and website, took home top prize during 2017’s Caring for the Kenai Competition. The competition asks students to think outside the box to solve issues facing their community and is hoping to expand beyond the peninsula with “Caring for my Backyard,” a community partnership available anywhere there are backyards and youth with creative ideas .
