No injuries in home fire near Kalifornsky Beach Road

There were no injuries reported from a home fire near Kalifornsky Beach Road on Tuesday afternoon.

No one was in the home when it burned — owner Sabrina McGraw left the house shortly before to pick up her children from school. She learned of the fire by phone from her neighbor, Jenny Thompson, whose children saw the fire as they were returning from school and called 911.

Kenai Peninsula Borough’s Central Emergency Services responded to the fire call around 3 p.m., Deputy Chief Dan Grimes said. Nineteen Central Emergency Services firefighters and three from the Kenai Fire Department were on scene, as well as a CES medic unit and an Alaska State Trooper.
