The congregation of the Kenai United Methodist Church will welcome former pastor Bob Simmons to the pulpit on Sunday. Bob was the church's minister from 1991-1995. He will speak on Salvation. The church is located across from Wells Fargo Bank in Kenai.

Rising water in the Kenai River caused a small dock to break loose from the Russian River Ferry service and led to the issuance of a flood advisory on Thursday. Water in the Kenai River near Cooper Landing was measured at 13.3 feet high at 4 p.m.

The ENSTAR Natural Gas service line that was damaged in Ninilchik Tuesday has been repaired. According to an Alaska State Troopers dispatch, the incident occurred at roughly 2:30 p.m.

The Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly approved a petition on Tuesday to establish a gas line in the Diamond View Estates community, just south of Homer. The neighborhood to this point has been primarily powered by oil and propane.
