Teachers should consider smaller raise

With California totally broke and humongous non-funded retirement funds, I would think the teachers with bachelor and master degrees would be able to figure out maybe they could consider a raise comparable to the Social Security recipients. Complaining about three months off? I thought that was what most of them wanted. They can receive 12 checks can’t they?

The U.S. is 16 trillion dollars in debt. Do they ever bring this subject up to their students? My schooling was during the big Depression and Second World War. My fourth grade country school teacher received $100 plus room and board and also went to the school in the winter time to fire up the wood stove. I also walked 1 3/4 mile to school for 2 years.

We had wonderful dedicated teachers back during the Depression and War years and today I know there many dedicated and retired teachers who I am proud to know. Try using some common sense instead of just listening to what unions are telling you.
