Nikiski athletes appreciate help moving snow

The Nikiski Middle/High School Track and Field athletes, coaches, and parents wish to extend a huge “Thank You” to all those involved in helping to clear snow from the Nikiski track this year.

Last year we were unable to have Regions here because of the late snow fall and the fact that heavy equipment is not allowed on this new type of track surface.

After discussions with KPB Mayor Mike Navarre and KPB Public Works Director Sean Wedemeyer, a workable solution was found, which included help from the City of Kenai.

Our hats are off to Kenai City Manager Rick Koch, Maintenance Director Scott Griebel, and Kurt Wagoner of the Streets Department for arranging to have special equipment brought out to Nikiski for this job. The Kenai city operators did a great job.

Most years our track team has to practice in the parking lot for the majority of the season. It looks like this year we will get on the track much earlier than usual. Thanks to all involved. We greatly appreciate it.
