Cleanup should be part of the game

Posted: September 19, 2013 - 6:07pm  |  Updated: September 20, 2013 - 9:11am

Before becoming a SoHi Star football player parent my child learned the game of football through Pop Warner. The actions I witnessed on Sunday after the unlimited division played were appalling. I do not know who sits on the board any longer nor do I know the coaches of this team. The team and the Pop Warner board did not bother to clean up after they finished their game. Four other parents and myself who were not involved with the game stayed behind and cleaned up the mess which would not have been taken care of otherwise. I know for a fact that our boys when playing Pop Warner football under coaches Fowler, Crawford and Riley never thought of leaving a field in that condition. Thank you coaches! Our SoHi boys will have a clean field and stands to welcome our next guests to, thanks to the parents of a couple Pee Wee players and my family. Go SoHi!

Thank you Mr. Hatten for bringing this to everyones attention. I apologize for this happening, had I not realized my cell phone battery was to low to take call from the snack shack gals and I would have come and cleaned up the field myself and found out immediatly why our Coach left it that way. This was all just miscommunication.
As a former Parent of a Pop Warner player then you know all to well that cleanup after a game is not soley left upon our Organization and Coaches. Players and Parents should help out too, this is their Community also. But when we have a majority of Parents from one team not even willing to show up for a game it wears on the whole team. I am not dismissing the fact of our Coaches not helping clean up its just that in the 4yrs I have been part of this program we have not had any problem such as this. This was a one time occasion in which the Coaches and Staff were over whelmed due to lack of Parents volunteering during game that they were frazzled and miscommunicated to each other about who was doing what to close field. I assure you that in the future as long as I am part of Pop Warner we will not have this problem.
Thank you for your help.
Renee
