On October 4 we will vote on two propositions concerning raising sales taxes. I urge you to vote no on both. As a result of our current economic situation more and more of our citizens are unemployed and/or living in poverty. This is not the time to force those in need who are struggling to get by to pay more sales taxes. Sales taxes are regressive in that the poor pay a larger proportion of their income in sales taxes than do the wealthy. So let’s not put an additional burden on them.

so we can watch our communities dry up and blow away. Who needs schools and driveable roads? Who needs a hospital nearby? Honestly, it's just a waste of money......yeahright.
Vote NO on Propositions 1 & 2 !!!
The Borough doesn't need MORE sales taxes. They raised that rate by 50% the same year that the VOTERS passed the ballot initiative for the grocery tax exemption. Why do the Borough politicians ALWAYS try to subvert the will of the people?
Now they claim that all sales taxes are for education BUT the sales tax collected from the increase in Proposition Two is dedicated for economic development.
More Borough doublespeak and more Borough tax increases. I pay enough already. Vote NO for NO additional tax increases.

Well of course, No One wants to increase the $ we pay to taxes. But there is great misinformation as to how much taxes we pay here in Alaska.
Fact : Alaskans Pay THE LEAST AMOUNT OF TAXES OF ALL 50 STATES.
Go live in California or Anchorage or any other State. Federal, State,County,City,Village, Township,Sales,Personal Property,
Estate, You name it, they will TAX it !

To roserph: Tell you what, since you are so gung ho to take my money and blow it on worthless projects, why don't we take YOUR PFD check and give it to the borough each year? (another liberal tax and spender...who is part of the problem) Bet you voted for obama-mama didn't you?

With the economy we are stuck with their is no need for the people to give more money to the government to feed their ego's. They must just prioritize the projects they are going to fund and stop with the almost automatic pay raises and cost of living raises every year. It's past time for all government agencies on all levels to do what all families have been doing now for years and that is to live according to their income.
