Candidates' efforts appreciated

Mrs. Heath's 2nd/3rd Grade Class from Nikiski North Star Elementary School would like to express their thanks to the mayoral candidates who kindly responded to their letters. The class wrote to the candidates to ask them what they would do if they were to become the new borough mayor. We enjoyed reading the responses from Dale Bagley and Debbie Brown, and appreciated the time they spent on addressing our concerns.

We were very excited to have both Mike Navarre and Fred Sturman visit our classroom to talk with us in person! As a teacher, I very much appreciate that these busy people would take time out of their schedule to educate and encourage young children; my students have learned that even though they are just 7 and 8 years old, they do have a voice and they can make a difference in their community!
