Reader supports effort to limit corporate influence

I enthusiastically support AK House Bill 244 and House Joint Resolution 33 (HB 244: "An Act providing that for-profit corporations and limited liability companies organized in this state are not persons for purposes of influencing the outcomes of public office elections, initiatives, referendums, or recalls; HRJ 33: Urging the United States Congress and the President of the United States to work to amend the Constitution of the United States to prohibit corporations, unions, and individuals from making unlimited independent expenditures supporting or opposing candidates for public office).

Why? Because no matter how diligently I save my money, I will never be able to compete against enormous corporate funds to buy my own politician. I count my blessings and wealth in other ways, which makes me the richest person on earth. May God bless and keep our Alaska!
