Homer T-200 checkpoint a success thanks to support

On Jan. 28 and 29, the annual Tustumena 200 was held on the Peninsula, and Homer was invited to bring a checkpoint close to town for our residents to enjoy. With a slim budget, Snomads snowmachine club took on this task with much excitement to host this checkpoint. It was a wonderful surprise that we received some much needed financial support from Rick Northey and the Caribou Hills Cabin Hoppers! What a wonderful group of people who, like Snomads, support outdoor activities and promote access to public land. To say the least, the T-200 was a blast with Cim Smyth taking first place; our Homer checkpoint was a great success with many volunteers and spectators showing up to see the dogs and mushers. Thanks to the Cabin Hoppers' assistance, we received a lot of compliments on our well-run checkpoint. Thanks again, Cabin Hoppers; you guys are great!
