The Soldotna City Council elected to close more shore line on the Kenai River to fishing under the banner of safety. Safety, safety, safety. It is out of control. Our government uses it to shrink our rights daily. It's their trump card. It doesn't matter what anyone else says, thinks or is affected by their law; they throw the word (safety) into it and bam, it's a done deal.

What it really comes down to is those poor people who don't have boats are in the way. Hmm, how do we get them out of the way? I know, safety! Now we can get 2 more minutes on the river.

If you don't have a boat you know how hard it is to find a place to fish from the bank, and alot of people can bearly afford the gas and parking to get there, and when you get there good luck finding a place to fish. You kow what is not safe? By closing more shore line to fishing you are forcing people to wade farther and father out in to the fast moving cold water of the river. 

People with power did the same thing with Halibut IFQs. They took a resouce that belongs to the people, and under the banner of safety gave that resource to the rich.

When are we going to wake up? Once our rights are gone they're gone for good.
