Legislative support helps stock hospice medical closet

Hospice of the Central Peninsula board of directors, volunteers, and staff would like to acknowledge our appreciation of Sen. Tom Wagoner and Reps. Mike Chenault and Kurt Olson. Their recommendation to add a line item to the State budget to help fund our medical equipment loan closet will greatly enable our organization to better serve the community.

Hospice was appropriated funds for FY 2012 from the State of Alaska Compassionate Services Grant for Equipment Replacement in the amount of $10,000.00.

We have served an average of seven persons a day during our business hours this past year.  Astounding!  Our loan closet is available to the entire community on a loan basis. Shower transfer chairs, walkers, wheelchairs, electric hospital beds, are among the most requested items. As a result of the increased demand for specific equipment such as wheelchairs; we are appreciative of the grant funding to have new inventory available.

Hospice of the Central Peninsula has served dying persons, their families and bereaved individuals in the communities of the Kenai Peninsula since 1987. Services are available at no charge.
