A great big "Family Fun" thank you

The great weather brought well over a thousand people out to the North Peninsula Recreation Service Area facilities for the annual Nikiski "Family Fun in the Midnight Sun" event on June 16.

Each year the community and local organizations step up to make this a successful celebration. There were many great family prizes, as well as bikes and helmets given away throughout the day. Thanks Scott and XTO Energy!

This event truly couldn't be as successful without all of the wonderful sponsors that stepped up to contribute. Thank you to the following sponsors: XTO Energy, Tesoro, Weaver Brothers, Offshore Systems Kenai (OSK), Alaska SeaLife Center, Representative Mike Chenault, Sharon Burdick, Kenai Veterinary Hospital, Salamatof Native Association, Arby's, Bishop Lake Studio, Kenai Neon Sign Company, Dukowitz Machine, Peninsula Ear, Nose & Throat Clinic Inc., Brown Agency, Marathon Oil Company, AA Dan's Construction, Sundog Serigraphics, Peninsula Accounting Services, Big G Electric, Kachemak Electric, Homer Electric Association, Kenai Peninsula Fishermen's Association, Peak Oilfield Services, Dan's TV & Appliance, Spenard Builders Supply, and On the Fly Mobile Fishing Supply & More.

The NPRSA Recreation Staff worked hard to make all the age appropriate games fun and successful! Great job Tammy, Jackie, Angie, Kinsey, Jeff and Wesley, you guys are awesome. And thanks to Joe, Ed, Lucas and Jesse for the setup, take down and cleanup. Teri and Steve, thanks for providing the free watermelon all day long!

For all of you who participated in the Family Fun Runs, we certainly thank you for your support and hope you enjoyed the race. Proceeds support the reading programs at the Nikiski North Star Elementary School.

Thank you all for contributing to such a great traditional community celebration! And thank you to the people of Nikiski and the peninsula for your support!
