Begich record mirrors Obama's

Posted: October 25, 2012 - 8:24am

Senator Begich’s ideas as noted in “Voices of Alaska” (Oct. 18) for budget cuts are miniscule as they relate to the trillion dollar deficits the Obama administration incurs every year. His track record as Mayor of Anchorage parallels that of President Obama. Under his administration taxes increased substantially and he left the city of Anchorage with a twenty million dollar shortfall.

As an idea, why not work toward collecting the twenty-three billion dollars General Motors owes the government. The United Auto Workers should be glad to take home less income to do this as a nice gesture to thank Mr. Obama and Begich who gave them sixty percent of the company during their negotiations. Perhaps he should suggest to the President to talk to the Ford people who survived without the big handouts. That might prevent future giveaways.

He cites smart investments in education, infrastructure and energy but factually our grade and high schools have continually received more money while test scores over the last decade receded. The infrastructure program of the current administration was a total failure and the government lost ninety billion dollars in its venture into alternative energy.

Almost everything our Senator says is the same pitch the Obama administration preaches but the fact is they have failed miserably. A junior senator’s suggestions even if fully implemented would do little to reduce the deficit. We cannot add seventeen million people to the food stamp program and continue the trend of government activity to more and more welfare. We need to send Mr. Obama on his way back to the Windy City.

Check Mr. Begich’s voting record in the Senate. He is constantly supporting the Obama position and his entire article sounds like a speech by the president. I can’t buy his tale.

I see like a no-fault

Yawl or You All, should check out Alexander Fraser Tytler's work as a lawyer, writer, and professor. He was also a historian, and Professor of Universal History, Greek and Roman Antiquities, in the University of Edinburgh. And his recent fame has come from something he didn't say, but was given credit for through conclusions drawn of his lectures. He has brought to light the Natural Maturation of democracies throughout the history of the world. He didn't say democracies fail after about 200 years when the majority realizes it can live large voting benifets through voting for the candidate that offers the most"FREE STUFF"
He did however however outline the symptoms of how a Democracy fails. Then is usually followed by dictatorship then a monarcy. So is there really somebody in this discussion who really can't see the reality of our new Chinese overlords? He drew attention to the inevitable economic decline of democracies that continue to vote for the Man with the most Booty! His studies reveal the average time line for any group of Human Beings to proceed along this pathway of distruction is about 200 years.
It is my personal opinion that the last real great depression was like an elixer, it brought us all back together and really added some value to the dollar! So save your money there are hard times a coming! It will be questioned historically if the bailout helped or just fanned the fire for the next election. Was the bailout proper while watching the EU economy go down in flames?
The future failure of this economic plan isn't anyone parties fault, it's just like in our DNA. Old Fraser even eluded to the speed of societies decline being equal to the level of comfort it provides! The higher the comfort level the faster the decline seems to be the rule. So SPW I sure hope you FEEL comfortable with your choice at the poles!

TWO PARTY MASCOTS EXIBIT EXACT IDEOLOGIES RELATED TO EACH.

Take the animals that represent each party.

The hard headed donkey that can't remember what has past and only hopes for the future to be better but has to be beat & beat continueosly to get any production out of it, day after day.
Of course if one places a carrot on a stick & hangs it out front of that donkey, the donkey will stumble along nonstop working for that carrot and do anything in Hopes of getting that reward, but never reaching his goal of obtaining that reward thats long lasting.

Take the Elephant that never forgets it's past and knows exactly whats ahead of a day for the hard work it must perform to be rewarded. The elephant needs no carrot on a stick to make it productive because it remembers that hard work produces it's rewards and those come freely and even an occasional treat is added for loyalty and hard work as it always looks ahead not for a Hope of reward, but an assurance of it for working for it.
NOTHINGS FREE AND WILL COST EVERYONE SOME HOW.

Donkeys and Elephants, a picture of humanbeings and isn't it funny how each is an EXACT EXAMPLE of those in EACH said Politico-Religious Party?
Some never learn, some never forget, always has been and always will be the case.
I am one of those hardheaded elephants.

THIS NEW NORMAL SEEMS LIKE THE OLD NORMAL, ONLY WORSE, MUCH WORSE.

All rightie then, you bring

All rightie then, you bring up this Bain Capitol thingie.

Ok so lets get this ‘Bain’ thing in the open here. When company owners have completely collapsed, failing totally and shutting down; a private company that is successful such as ‘Bain’ buys them.

They only buy companies that are dead rotting lifeless corpses. The owner can’t make it work. All the managers, supervisors, and leaders are incompetent morons and can’t make the lifeless company work. The labor sluggos can’t do a good enough job to breath the tiniest bit of life into the decaying company. DOA when Bain arrives!

So a company like Bain buys it up, taking a chance that it MIGHT be brought back to life. It’s a gamble.

Sometimes it succeeds, sometimes the company keeps going for just long enough to take new steps and get the employees on their feet, sometimes they sell off parts. They also have some that they cannot revive, and they LOSE THEIR INVESTMENT MONEY.

Sounds like a pretty good analogy for the U.S. ECONOMY.
‘cause it’s the economy stupid. That’s what we will vote for.

Suss... why you can't argue with a liberal

A brilliant example for the folks, Suss. So, you get on the internet and make outlandish claims that Blue Cross rates have dropped 15% due to Obamacare. You then go on to claim that Romney is going to repeal Obamacare and outsource health care to China. Pure lies, of course. There is no version of reality where such a thing can happen.

So, along comes a real person (me) who lays his actual Blue Cross bill on the table, clearly demonstrating that your post is a fable. In fact, my proof shows that rates have gone up nearly 80% while you are telling the world that Obama has run them down by 15%. I provided facts that disprove your assertions. I win.

No... instead of admitting that your post was wrong, you jump on the liberal ad hominem bandwagon. Attack me and my employer and then claim that I'm "whining" about my insurance premiums? Are you kidding? Posting real evidence that you are wrong cannot be considered "whining". As far as I'm concerned, my insurance rates are just fine and my employer (an evil oil company) is awesome. My 6-figure salary doesn't even notice the health insurance premiums that I voluntarily pay. That doesn't change the fact that your precious Obamacare has increased the cost of my health premium by nearly 80% over the last 3 years. Facts is facts. Now, go right ahead and laugh at me as if you're not the one looking like an idiot. I care not.

Valueable Position Squandered

Everytime I here that pandering voice of our youngest Senator I think of how his party screwed Alaska over to get that Senate Seat. How a our beloved old Uncle Ted was smeared and thrown under the buss along with all his seniority and any chance of Alaska having much stroke in the Senate as per seniority. The value placed on that seat by the Democratic Party can only be estimated by the extent they went after taking Ted Stevens down. That an entire political machine of such power would go after our backwoods titan in such a beligerant fashion was shameful. And the pump up of exposure in the press slamming Uncle Ted went unmatched when it was time to expose his scandleous accusers. All the while our susposed favorite son candidate goes unscaved smelling like a Rose. Gets his freshman sticker for the lockeroom door and his party appoints the latest and greatest fab four liberal to Ted's valueable positions! And with just that one more seat they are the majority and it's a brad new world for the sitting President. It's probably just all a coinsidence, just happened and no forthought or planning. Can't blame Marko he was just in the right place at the left time.

It has been proven that the

It has been proven that the court proceedings against dear ol uncle ted were improper.

However, I will never ever forget hearing him in a voice recording to Bill Allen...................

"Caught on tape discussing the burgeoning corruption probe against him two years ago, Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens was both combative and pragmatic, denying in sometimes coarse language that he and a friend had done anything wrong but also acknowledging that they might face fines or even prison.

"You got to get a mental attitude that these guys can't really hurt us. They're not going to shoot us. It's not Iraq," the six-term Republican lawmaker said in a telephone conversation with oilman Bill J. Allen recorded by the FBI.

"Worst thing can happen to us is we run up a bunch of legal fees . . . and might have to pay a fine . . . might have to serve a little time in jail," Stevens continued. "I hope . . . it never comes to that . . . and I don't think it will. But I am developing the attitude that I don't think I did anything wrong, so I am going to go right through my life and keep doing what I think is right."

Any rational human can see just how guilty he was.
When someone who is under investigation states on tape with their cohort, "might have to serve a little jail time", anyone who is not on life support can figure out he was guilty as helll.

JOAT Is Wrong Again, and Again

How is this, JOAT's different insurance went up,and that is Apples and Oranges, they are not the same. You stated you have BCBS and that is not Premera Blue Cross. Get it? I wish I could draw little pictures for you.I win a discount and you do not, simple enough to understand. I guess I'd be upset that Blue Cross rates went down and then learned I did not have a Premera Blue Cross policy. Do your own reseach, call ask for quotes, check with the State they keep records. So Rmoney is lying when he says he will repeal Obamacare on his first day in office? As far as Rmoney and China go follow the Bain job drain of outsourced American jobs. Rmoney does not need health insurance because he has his magic underwear. Get over yourself, and maybe you could try to understand that you are still wrong, and I still have a better Blue Cross policy.

Insurers nervous over prospect of a Romney victory

Insurers nervous over prospect of a Romney victory
ABC OTUS News –
You'd think health insurance CEOs would be chilling the bubbly with Republican Mitt Romney's improved election prospects, but instead they're in a quandary.
Although the industry hates parts of President Barack Obama's health care law, major outfits such as UnitedHealth Group and BlueCross Blue Shield also stand to rake in billions of dollars from new customers who'll get health insurance under the law. The companies already have invested tens of millions to carry it out.
Were Romney elected, insurers would be in for months of uncertainty as his administration gets used to Washington and tries to make good on his promise repeal Obama's law. Simultaneously, federal and state bureaucrats and the health care industry would face a rush of legal deadlines for putting into place the major pieces of what Republicans deride as "Obamacare."
Would they follow the law on the books or the one in the works? What would federal courts tell them to do?
The answers probably would hinge on an always unwieldy Congress.
Things could get grim for the industry if Republicans succeed in repealing the Affordable Care Act's subsidies and mandates, but leave standing its requirement that insurers cover people with health problems. If that's the outcome, the industry fears people literally could get health insurance on the way to the emergency room, and that would drive up premiums.
"There are a lot of dollars and a lot of staff time that's been put into place to make this thing operational," G. William Hoagland, until recently a Cigna vice president, said of the health care law.
Insurers "are not going to be out there saying, 'Repeal, repeal, repeal,'" added Hoagland, who oversaw public policy at the health insurance company. "They will probably try to find the particular provisions that cause them heartburn, but not throw the baby out with the bath water."
The Romney campaign isn't laying out specifics on how the candidate would carry out his repeal promise, other than to say the push would begin on his first day in office. Romney has hinted that he wants to help people with medical conditions, doesn't say what parts of the health care law he'd keep.
Likewise, America's Health Insurance Plans, the major industry trade group, isn't talking about what its members are telling the Romney campaign, though informal discussions are under way through intermediaries. Insurers like Romney's plan to privatize Medicare, and some point out that it looks a lot like Obama's approach to covering the uninsured.
Robert Laszewski, an industry consultant and blogger, says the tension is becoming unbearable.
"I spend a lot of time in executive offices and board rooms, and they are good Republicans who would like to see Romney win," said Laszewski. "But they are scared to death about what he's going to do."
There is no consensus among Republicans in Congress on how to replace Obama's law, much less anything like a bipartisan middle ground on health care, a necessity if the House retains its GOP majority and the Senate remains in Democratic hands.
In contrast, Obama's law is starting to look more and more like a tangible business opportunity. In a little over a year, some 30 million uninsured people will start getting coverage through a mix of subsidized private insurance for middle-class households and expanded Medicaid for low-income people. Many of the new Medicaid recipients would get signed up in commercial managed care companies.
A recent PricewaterhouseCoopers study estimated the new markets would be worth $50 billion to $60 billion in premiums in 2014, and as much as $230 billion annually within seven years.
Under the law, insurance companies would have to accept all applicants, including the sick. But the companies also would have a steady stream of younger, healthier customers required to buy their products, with the aid of new government subsidies. That finally could bring stability to the individual and small-business insurance markets.
At a time when employer coverage has been eroding, government programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, and now Obama's law are becoming the growth engines for the industry's bottom line. The trend seems too big to derail, says Morningstar analyst Matthew Coffina, who tracks the health insurance industry.
"I think it's limited what they'll be able to accomplish in terms of repeal," said Coffina. "We have to remember that Romney implemented very similar legislation" as governor of Massachusetts.
If Romney wins he's more likely to reduce the scope and scale of the law, Coffina added. Possibilities include delaying all or parts of the new coverage, particularly a Medicaid expansion that GOP governors don't like.
The industry has three items in particular it wants stripped out: cuts to Medicare Advantage private insurance plans; a requirement that insurers spend 80 percent of premiums on medical care or rebate the difference to their customers; and new taxes on insurance companies. But CEOs don't share the visceral objection that many Republicans have to a bigger government role in health care.
Industry executives "are Republicans in the sense that they're worried about the bottom line and they want to retain private sector involvement," said Hoagland, the former Cigna vice president. "But some of their bottom line is now driven by Medicare and Medicaid. So it's not like they're red or blue. It's more like purple."

Americans nervous as Obama watched Weasel Team 6

Americans that have any common sence are nervous about Obamas being reelected as News comes out of Obama sitting and watching Jihad Weasel Team 6 attack in Libya from the Situation Room for over 7 hrs as they kill 4 Americans, all the while wondering whose next for attacks and the repeated order to STAND DOWN given to Military that could have stopped this.
I can see where the money laundering insurance companies are nervous if Romney gets voted in as their Ponzie Scam of Ameicans aided by many Hospitals will be slowed down, i hope it will any how.

What color is your cross?

Suss, try to hold still for a moment. Your ducking and dodging makes it hard to carry on an adult conversation.

For the record; you said, "BlueCross health insurance rates drop 12% to 15%" and I countered that by saying, "As a long-time member of Blue Cross, I can assure everyone that the rates have been going up by leaps and bounds over the last 3 years..." There was no mention about any specific versions of Blue Cross. Yet, now that you've been exposed, you try to rewrite the argument and claim that we each said something different. Liberal debate tactic #3: duck, dodge, and weave.

Thanks for plagiarizing someone else's opinion piece for this discussion. It actually proves my point. Obamacare is in bed with huge corporate insurance companies who have their fat fingers on the purse of the American tax payers. I thought you Occupy folks were against these close relationships between government and big corporations? Of course insurance companies are going to be uneasy about getting rid of Obamacare. That was going to be their fat cow. A bunch of insurance companies stood to get filthy, stinking rich off of Obamacare. And that was going to happen on the backs of our youth, at the detriment to our sick, while destroying the world's greatest health care system. It is by far one of the worst government control plans in our nation's history. In order for our country to survive, we must shred this one and start over. There is a better way.

Blue Cross is NOT BCBS

Never said BlueCross/BlueSheild rates went down and you are still stuck with the wrong company. Get over it, remedial reading help is available.
Check yourself, you will find Premera Blue Cross is a better insurer and Blue Cross/Blue Sheild is inferior to them. I still need to draw you little pictures, they even have different logos and trademarks to help the simple people tell them apart. You just don't get it, maybe you could tattoo their logos on your face.

Again, you cannot read...."ABC OTUS News " was clearly credited. Maybe eyeglasses are covered with your BC/BS.

You do not have Blue Cross, you are stuck with Blue Cross/Blue Shield. It is as clear as the tattoos that should be on your face.

You seem very quick to accuse, very slow to learn that you are still very wrong. Now that we both know that you have a reading comprehension problem, please ask for a tutor, before Rmoney could get his very slim chance to cut education.

Liberal debate tactic #4

Don't let a transcript fact checker get in the way of your failed arguments. Are you taking this play by play out of an Ann Coulter book? (I now predict that the mention of Ann Coulter will bring forth accusations that she has an Adam's apple... one of the key reasons why liberals are so funny, and such hypocrites.) Instead of addressing the arguments, just start insulting the other guy. If you had taken any logic or debate classes in school, you would recognize the fallacy of your position. Ad hominem attacks are moot. You may falsely assert anything you want about my education, but it does nothing to bolster a case for Obamacare and actually makes you look quite shallow and petty. Though it does add credence to the underlying hypocrisy of liberals.

So, as long as you've attacked me on my education, let's fact check that one... honor student, 3 University degrees, health care professional, published writer, elected executive director for a non-profit corporation on 3rd term, adult educator in multiple fields, and why not toss in that certified IQ of 146 (admittedly that was from testing about 15 years ago and I'm much smarter now). But feel free to continue to call me an illiterate, slow learner. I find it quite amusing.

The transcript still stands. No one said anything about different divisions of Blue Cross. And it is completely irrelevant to the point you attempted to make in your original post.

Fact (cover your eyes if you can't handle the truth)... IF Obamacare had lowered insurance rates, it would be across the board. It would not matter what "insurance" company we were talking about. The simple fact that one insurance plan dropped slightly while another increased significantly makes your claim inaccurate. For the cause to be the government, it must affect all of them. It does not, therefore it can't be the government which lowered your insurance plan.

You probably missed it the first time... I have no need or desire to try to change insurance companies. People who have jobs are basically stuck with the group plans that are offered by their employers. To change insurance companies means you have to change jobs.

Final tid-bit for you; the term "insurance" is technically incorrect when talking about health insurance. Folks try to liken health insurance to auto insurance, et al. Other types of insurance have a large pool of people paying in, but few claims paying out. Most people never receive auto or home insurance benefit. The opposite is true with health "insurance", as everyone who pays into the program will have claims against it. Health insurance is a money marketing racket. They are taking the money from the young and healthy and paying it out for the sick and injured. Eventually, the young and healthy become the recipients and they must take money from their replacements to keep the system rolling. It is always placing the burden on the children. It is unsustainable in the long run. Look at Medicare and Social Security for examples.

You start out screaming you are lying, then you accuse plagiarism, you continue to assume someone is a liberal and you think I attacked you. I have shown you where you were wrong and are wrong, and then wrong again. I still believe you have a reading and comprehension issue that does not allow your mind to see what is clearly evident. Nothing to do with education. I find you humorous and boring at the same time. Your very overstated sense of self is a major tell. When you learn to admit you are wrong you might grow from the experience. Again I suggest the blue in the face tattoo because it would be fitting. Thanks for the great bio, impresses me not. Calm down, Suss

As the guy who is sitting here cool, calm, and expressionless, I actually broke out into a laugh at your continued tirades. Again, ducking and dodging the questions, launching personal attacks, and claiming you've proven some point that you haven't even addressed yet.

If you're so bored, stop coming back. But if you continue to come back, then by all means provide some proof of your original assertion, to which I have stated that you are lying. If you're not lying, then you are grossly misinformed. If that's the case, I'll allow you to claim ignorance and I'll withdraw my accusation that you are lying.

Provide us a shred of evidence that our President's Obamacare program has caused health insurance rate reductions across the board for Americans. You keep claiming you've proven this premise, yet you have yet to offer any proof whatsoever.

Insurance companies are and

Insurance companies are and have been a ponzi scheme for ever; they take in your premiums and pay out (only when they are forced to do so) to those that submit claims because of whatever happened that is "covered" by their contract/policy.

Obama would have preferred a single payer system for health insurance; congress decided otherwise.

to claim that he is in "bed" is to be a repuke by nature, that
is to lie..

insurance is a form of socialism, collecting of monies from
many and paying out to those that provide evidence of need.

as the world and yes, america, continues to increase in
population; the argument that "It is unsustainable in the long run" is specious by definition. just goes to prove that
you can dress it up.... and there you have it....

repukes the party of lies, liars and hypocrites.

what difference does it make if the entity doing the
"insuring" is the govt or the capitalist?

one will charge more in order to gain profits to be paid out
as "dividends" that are taxed at a lower rate vs the other
which is not for profit and more transparent.

look at the following quote...it explains why your rates rise.
do they ever fall? not likely.. they are all tied together..

"Theft, snowstorms, floods, hurricanes, vandalism on vehicles and other natural calamities were some of apparent conditions which influenced auto insurance rates. It is evident that auto insurance premiums rise not only due to weather damage but also because insurance companies will necessitate more resources to settle the boosting of claims during the natural catastrophe."

repukes the party of lies, liars and hypocrites...

Amazing to think that someone

Amazing to think that someone would publish all of their degrees and intelligence scores like anyone gives a hoot. Wake up, this is the internet, you can be anything you want to be. You could be a hs dropout just released from prison, burning up on time on your lap top while waiting to meet with your parole officer. So give us a break.....
If you are trying to impress anyone with your internet based achievements, you have issues.
Once President Obama is reelected we will have health care that will benefit all of us.

CAREFUL JOAT, SOUP EATING INSTRUCTORS ABOUND

Funny how some are right and everyone else is wrong and we all wonder who is who on this tool we share ideals on.
Joat how is it going on learning how to eat soup thru a straw, did ya ever hook up with the instructor that seems to know it all and is will to show others the error of their ways by force?
With far right instructors on the Kenai it's a good thing to have their messiah's healthcare available for medical issues one might need due to disagreeing with worshippers like these.

Sorry the shoot was there about this wonderful health care and the desire for many to shove it down others throats as if it's a GR8 thing and all that refuse it need to be shown the way FOREWARD by force.

Ya got to love these that are concerned with loving caring for the health of others that differ from the farrrrrr right, when all on the lefttttttttttttt know it's a bunch of nonsence and good for no one, not even righties.
AGAIN, NO MATTER WHO WINS, WE ALL LOSE, BECAUSE WE ARE WALKING DEAD AS FAR AS A SOVERIGN FREE NATION IS CONCERNED. SO PLEASE DESPENCE WITH THE BS ABOUT HOW GOOD OBAMA OR ROMNEY ARE AS THERE IS NO DIFFERANCE BETWEEN THEM OTHER THAN MORALS.
OBAMA CARE OR ROMNEY CARE, BOTH ARE CONTROL DEPENDANCE ISSUES, PERIOD.
