A different approach to reducing the debt

Posted: December 16, 2012 - 3:17pm  |  Updated: December 17, 2012 - 9:54am

Let’s help the federal government, with the debt problem. Seventy percent of Alaska is owned by the federal government. At a recent town hall meeting, State Senator Cathy Giessel stated, if Alaska was a sovereign nation we would be tenth in the world in our natural resources. A Washington Post reporter suggested the federal government sell Alaska (Dec. 14, To Solve Our Debt Problems, Let’s Sell Alaska).

I am sure China would be interested in purchasing Alaska. More gold left in the ground than has been taken out. Untold mineral resources. Fish to feed their growing population.

Perhaps the people in Alaska should purchase our freedom. We have 42 billion in our permanent fund. Good down payment. We would then have access to the rest of our natural resources and could make payments. Freedom is never free. Let Alaskans purchase our land from the federal government and become one of the richest nations on the planet.

That is why the FBI and Homeland security infiltrate and monitor extreme domestic groups such as the miltia. The men and women that serve our country in these capacities do their utmost to make sure domestic extremists groups never have the chance to kill more innocent men women, and children.

I applaud the work they did protecting our fellow Alaskans from the Fairbanks militia group led by whackjob stephen cox.

His plan, "Two for one" was stopped in it's tracks by these brave men and women.

Happy Holidays to all of our men and women who serve our country defending us against all enemies, both foreign and domestic.

I see, only government can keep us safe. Say, how do you feel about the fine government economic protection we have? Printing more money and giving it to the banks. Kinda nice to see how our government is allowing the banks to support money laundering of the drug cartels and the 19 biggest banks are still doing what they did back in 2007.

you can only imagine...

Ray said something today that made me lol... He said, "If you think the federal government can handle the gun problem, just look at the dandy job they did with the banking industry."

Hey, Norseman.... sleep tight tonight, the federal government is always watching...not to protect you, but to find ways of making you a submissive, obedient, minion.

Merry Government Control. (It's really not "glory to God in the highest, peace on earth, good will toward men.")

America has foresaken God and has refused his Instruction Book for a government (2 Kings 23:3, Romans 13). He has turned us over (Romans Chapter 1) to our own devices...

We are seeing NOW what happens to a nation that rejects God and His precepts, rules, and ordinances for how a government ought to rule.

Time is running... are you ready for the ride?

What are actually the major killers?

What are actually the major killers of Americans?
Smoking is #1 with around 450,000, Medical deaths by doctors are #2 with around 250,000, Auto accidents on roads are #3 with around 190,000 and they say that violent gun deaths are #4 with around 11,000. I think that this is messed up because we kill innocent babies at the tune of 6500 A DAY from bad sex choices.
We spend $6 Billion a year on christ-mas presents and decorations and thats what it would cost to protect our precious children that are not aborted and go to school.
So how are guns the trouble and how is the govt. gonna help?
America will NEVER ESCAPE the grasp of govt. control due to the almost total dependance on govt. by the masses of sheeple dependant on govt.
The desire to regulate guns and FREE PEOPLE will result in the very Revolution or Civil War that i predicted BO would help usher in due to IGNORANTE PEOPLE that want free stuff or are allowed to take what they want with no resistance due to laws in place that remove our rights to protect ourdelves and other Free Americans.
Troubles almost here the End of the Calendar was the warning signal of coming troubles from Satans return and worship of him by most world leaders and misguided sheeple. Hang On It's Gonna Be a Rough Ride With 2/3rds Of All Life Killed, Human, Plant, Animal Or Sealife and Fresh Water Too.
WWII killed 56 million people, WWIII will kill 4.3 billion people.
There is a way of escape and it's absolutely FREE for all that would only ask and trust and believe the healer, redeemer.
UNION ONE IS COMING WITH MEMBERS ONLY SURVIVAL, THATS OWO GOVERNMENT SUPPORTERS ONLY.
8 DAYS TILL THE END OF THE CALENDAR NOW, WHATS GONNA HAPPEN THEN?

While reading your comments, a bit George Carlin did a few years ago came to mind. While this does not necessarily reflect my views, it does have the "hmmmm" factor.

Yes, I have seen it before. Most people understand as Carlin did. We just cling to the hope, a new king, (we call president) will do the right thing. We ignore the restraints of the Constitution on a benevolent president and give them dictatorship. We elect Bush because he is a fine Christian man and hope he will rule us justly, ignoring the Constitution. Then we elect Obama because he is a fine honest ,man and hope he will bring peace to the world, ignoring the Constitution.

Like Carlin said they are both bought and paid for along with our elected representatives, who bring home the money-our fair share. Money is not wealth and we will soon realize it.

Is Alaska ready?

norm, the hundred was for

norm, the hundred was for relocating, not a vacation. I'll toss in another hundred if ray goes with you.

ray i do believe the government does what it can to keep us safe. Is it all their responsibility? no. I have the means to protect my household and family if need be.

However, our police, troopers, FBI, CIA, Homeland Security, US military, and other agencies are all devoted to the protection of it's citizens.

Seem like lately we have more domestic violence than anything else. As I stated earlier, they did a magnificent job dealing with the whackjob fairbanks militia who are now in jail or awaiting sentencing.

At least there are a few more militia nutjobs now behind bars that will not hurt or murder innocent Alaskan citizens. Funny how you and norm constantly avoid anything at all with stephen cox and his militia now that he is behind bars. I kinda thought the militia had a lil loyalty to each other but guess not.

It's all rheteroic cause when things get bad you guys toss your fellow militia under the bus.

You keep asking if Alaskans are ready......We are prepared and have been LONG before the ex michigan militia arived here causing nothing but hate and discontent.

Michigan should be sending Alaska thank you cards...........

You probably won't read or care what i have to say, But. Your correct in stating that all the differant agencies do a GR8 Job of protecting us. How ever they also do alot of harm in faked attempts at terror, i do find it strange that all the reported acts of supposed terror are ones that are sting operations and the CIA, FBI & LE all stand around for hours afterwards at these fake stings like they are really protecting the public. Really? How long does it take to stop a fake sting that will never result in any harm to the public?
As for the Militia, i have known Norm for about 4 yrs thru his daughter and son in law and he HAS NEVER, HAS NEVER TALKED MILITIA ACTS AGAINST ANY FORM OF GOVT.. We do however talk of what the Bible says is coming with the OWO, Single World Govt. and it's UNION ONE leader & religious system, made up of sealed members which must worship the single ruler and his govt..
We have talked about preparedness for many other events that could also affect our lives as Alaskans and Americans from both Foriegn and Domestic attacks as well as natural events.
As far as throwing people under the bus, look around, it's epidemic and in many cases it is appropriate to throw them under the bus when they step out of line. I only wish that many supposed good priests or preachers would be done that way, along with all public servants, no matter the branch of service when they step out of line.
So as far as loyalty and dedication to fellow service members no matter the branch or membership i would ask this, why must the militia be held with their feet to the fire over Cox or others that go off the deep end and intentionally inflict harm, yet all others are good to go. Ever hear of BENGHAZI and throwing fellow members under the bus? The list could go none stp with just such cases by Govt. or other unions.
In closing i would ask this, ARE THE MAJORITY OF ALASKANS REALLY PREPARED AND READY FOR COMING TROUBLES? NO THERE NOT, BUT ARE MORE SO THAN MOST AMERICANS!
Bad apples abound in every area of life and in every organized group or unions or governments, and we never know when they will strike and inflict harm on as many unprepared folks as they can.
Take the CT killings of those kids and adults, it has unloaded a massive push to regulate weapons while the Govt. passes law after law legalizing almost everything else that also causes hurt and deaths to everyone along the way.
Smoking, medical, auto, abortions, drugs, sex with animals and same sex partners as well as fake wars around the world that have nothing to do with Democracy in any way shape or form, the list is endless and all ment for a total distruction of OUR Society and Sovereign Rights and Freedoms which are ment to protect us from Governments like what we have now.

Our founders understood that all governments devolve to complete despotism. They codified the existing right of self preservation, by documenting this right with the Second Amendment. It is the last vestige supporting Liberty and Freedom in the USA.

I believe our government continues to move towards a totalitarian regime. You may disagree as it is your “state of mind” that our government would never harm the people. It is called Normalcy Bias.

Is it “paranoia,” when people attack the person instead of the ideas presented by the person. A wise man once told me all about ad Hominem attack.

“Spew hate.” since when is exposing corruption in government called hate, unless you are part of the corruption.

Our Federal government and banks continue to destroy the all mighty dollar in the worlds eyes. China is preparing, is Alaska? Merry Christmas.

norm, your hatred of our law

norm, your hatred of our law enforcement personnel has blinded you.
Every time you get behind the wheel our troopers and police are doing their best to make sure that our roadways are safe by looking out for lawbreakers.

The FBI, CIA, and Homeland security keep a 24x7 constant vigil on all threats to our nation, both domestic and foreign.

Our brave men and women in the military sacrifice so much to insure we are protected and safe from all enemies, both foreign and domestic.

I sleep well at night because all of these men and women are giving their all to protect and serve. Sometimes even their lives.

I also take personal responsibility for my families safety by teaching and training each of them in the use of firearms for self protection.

Those of us who are law abiding, patriotic citizens, love our country. Does it have faults and issues? Of course.

Your modis operandi is NOT to help our country to move forward, but instead fuel hate and discontent to the weak minded who would follow a lemming if told too.

Yes I believe in the men and women who serve and protect it's citizens. I honor them and am proud of them all.

Happy Holiday Season to all of these brave men and women!

Ron "Tater Salad" White

Ron "Tater Salad" White says it best Norm and Ray, "YOU CAN'T FIX STUPID." Of course this may just be a case of misinformed along with a improper belief system(due to Santa) in knowing who to trust or not. Funny how most men are so macho or hard headed that we will refuse to listen and learn even when the evidance is knocking us to the ground that things are messed up, with govt. the main cause.
I am once again amazed at where hate comes in by telling the TRUTH of what the protectors of the American people really do and don't do.
FIRST AND FOREMOST, if any conversation with any of the mentioned protectors such as CIA, FBI, MILITARY Branches, LE or even TSA & Homeland security and one will come to the conclusion that NONE OF THEM LIKE THE OTHERS.
CIA or FBI are continually trying to disgrace the other with secret investigations ment to hurt, not help anyone.
The LE if talking to a city cop or a stste Trooper they each do work together as well, but can't really stand the other.
Even the Military branches hate each other and always infighting and much of the freindly fire is from a fellow soldier that is sick of another and ends the conflict.
One question for all you smart people that put your undivided trust in any form of protection from any of the differant branches. DO YOU REALLY THING WHEN ALL HELL BREAKS OUT THAT THERE WILL BE ENOUGH OF THEM TO REALLY PROTECT ALL OF US?
Reach back and GRAB your heads and YANK, so it won't hurt so bad, YANK that head out so you can see reality and stop with the continual BS of they are all so GR8 and wonderful. Many are GR8 and wonderful, Many are not and could careless about any of us are even fellow protectors of Americans.
As i said if we all would just prepare for troubles like in CT, then we will not have to hope and pray that the Good Guys show up in time to help when the Bad Guys start acting up and must be put down.
YANK YOUR HEADS OUT AND SMELL THE ROTTEN EVIL STENCH OF EVILS DESIRE TO KILL ALL OF US AND KNOW THAT A OWO IS COMING VERY SOON, AND IT'S NOT MENT FOR GOOD FOR ANYONE, EVEN BLIND SUPPORTERS OF THAT OWO GOVT.
Merry December 25, 2012, 6 days till the END of the Calendar and a Merry January 1, 2013, MAYBE.

I prefer militia-guy. It is not an issue of what the government is doing that is good or bad. It is my attempt to have people think- what is best for our country/nation, regardless of what the government is doing. It is an issue of doing things that are best for future generations. We are told there are only two choices. Both options will continue to cause failure. That was my point with the original letter. What can Alaska do to help the people in the future? Please show me your list of what the government is doing that is best for the country? Not what is best for the banks and government but best for the people and the future.

Here is what President Kennedy believed about the future. Infrastructure.

You have made me chuckle. (Figgie pudding.) However, It is not an issue of people being “stupid.”

When I was a child, I remember how angry I was when a fellow classmate told me there was no Santa Claus. If there is no Santa Claus, then I get no toys, I figured. I put my hands over my ears and sang, hoping not to hear the reality. I was not stupid, just fearful of losing future toys.

Many folks today are angry at me, for discussing the reality of our failed economic policies and monetary system, at the direction of the banks “too big to fail or jail.”

They fear the loss of their toys when the power of the dollar is gone. Just like a child when they are told there is no Santa Claus.

Tell me about it Ray

If you only knew how hard it is for Christians to accept that they have been dupped in this santa claus lie which has replaced the true God and savior for all of us. They just don't want to let go of their past even when the truth is right in front of them and get upset with those that are only trying to help them understand whats going on with the continual lies at all levels of life, christian or nonchristian. We have an enemy that hates us all no matter who we are or what we believe and his desire is to have us hate and kill or destroy each other due to a lack of understanding and unwillingness to learn.
About Kennedy, thats JFK, you do know that he was killed due to his signing of a bill that outlawed the Federal Reserve and their control of OUR DOLLAR, don't you? V.P. LBJ IMMEDIATLY revoked that bill before the plane every landed with JFK's body on it with his missing brain that was gone so no forensics could be done about the multiple shooters.
Yepper, Satan has rulers in High Places of Govt. world wide and has always had an Anti-christ type person that wants to rid the world of Jews first, then everyone else.
America is NO WHERE TO BE FOUND IN THE BIBLE FOR THE LAST DAYS. Other modern day nations are mentioned, but, no America. Be on guard for the any day distruction of Damascus, Syria over night and the start of WWIII coming from Russia, Iran and all their allies, muslims ALL.
6 Days till our Calendar runs out and then what? The fiscal cliff, massive debt has sunk our ship and the dollar must fall. Electronic banking has already gained total control of all accounts no matter who you are and when they switch off that electronic system of National as well as Global commerce, then we will see the GR8est formation of a UNION ONE ever immagined, not a GOOD THING EITHER.
It's coming and money will not help nor the best of credit, only undying loyality to the UNION ONE will sustain you at the cost of your eternal souls though. Are you really as smart as you think? Are you really as prepared as you think? I think not and how can you be when you continually believe a lie that everythings gonna be OK with the govts. protection.
Most people don't have a clue, nor do they want to when it comes to the truth, no matter what the subjects.

Huh???

"Those of us who are law abiding, patriotic citizens, love our country. Does it have faults and issues? Of course"

It's those faults and issues that will get you killed. Remember the reluctance of government employees to expose the misdeeds of others on the payroll... The "blue code of silence", I believe is what they call it.

Their faults and issues will get you killed and no one will ever be brought to justice.

I will grant that there are some good guys within the FBI and Federal Marshal Services and even the Alaska Department of Investigation. I get calls from them occasionally and we discuss the threats that could light the fuse to our mutual destruction. They know the threat of an armed citizenry and they know the threat AGAINST the American people by the central government that continues to make war against the liberties of ordinary people.

Do not think for a minute that I am against the central government's law enforcement agents. Some of them have become my best intelligence source. What I do oppose are those who have renounced their oath to defend and support the Constitution and have in turn sold their soul to the unbridled ambition of criminals within the so-called government of the United States.

Don't for a minute think that all of the agents of the central government have given their avowed allegience to their oath.

Many of them are blood-thirsty animals that will kill their own and will even turn on those within the agencies to which they belong.

You are a fool to believe that there aren't problems, faults, and issues within the agencies. I know because many troopers, fbi, marshals, and secret service members have told me.

A different approach would be...to have our congress and president start making the tough decisions regardless of party. To seek compromise as that is where our countries interests now lie. The people spoke in November and elected a president both by popular vote (51%) and electoral college (61%). The house and senate remain divided. This election did not provide a firm mandate for or against the Democratic or Republican party and reflects the discontent and division of our country.
For the past 16 years our congress has failed to make the tough decisions and elected instead to have temporary fixes for lingering and growing issues. The Bush tax cuts were a temporary measure that have now become seemingly permanent. Everything from budgetary conflict to immigration issues have not been solved, but rather put on the back burner to be dealt with at a later date. Now, as government and our nation stands at the edge of the "fiscal cliff" congress is again saying "I doubt we can come to any deal in four days, but we can take temporary measures to ensure we don't tumble over the physical cliff." It's like Deja'Poo (that eerie feeling you've heard this crap before).
Congress is looking for a solution that will be painless when in fact such a solution does not exist. Everyone is going to need to feel some pain. We are coming off of a thirty year drunken binge and now it is time to deal with the hangover! Those that bellied up to the bar must now hang their heads in a garbage can and purge. It is inevitable!
A "Super Committee" that wasn't so super after all, came up with a plan that would start that hangover and get us on the road to recovery albiet a long road. That committee, the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform, made up of nine Democrats and nine Republicans came up with the Simpson Bowles plan. The catch with the super committee was this; what ever they came up with would go to a vote of both houses of congress. It would be a simple yes or no vote. No amendments. No back room deals. YES or NO! To get out of the committee of 18, 14 votes were needed. Only 11 were garnered. It never made it to a vote of congress. The committee vote was across party lines with three Republicans (including Paul Ryan) and four Democrats opposing the plan. It wasn't entirely what either party wanted and therefore it fell in committee.
We didn't just happen upon this fiscal cliff ... this hangover, it's been a long time coming and we have been putting it off over and over again with temporary bandaides. Congress as of late has had two years to make those tough decisions and they have failed miserably! Instead, they voted on a fist full of feel good legislation that had no affect on our current dilemma.
I'm sorry folks, but the only way to fix this is through compromise and doing what is fair for the country as a whole... Not what is best for the Republican or Democratic party, but for the American people. Unfortunately, I don't see that happening any time soon. It will be more of the same temporary measures while we sink deeper into the quagmire of debt.
My pants are down and my butt is pointed squarely at this do nothing go no where congress and they can kiss it! Unfortunately, the next congress will most likely not be able to act on time either!

2013 / Ray Southwell.

I've met Ray on two occassions. The last being over a year ago. We're not friends, we are mearly acquaintances. He most likely would vaguely remember me if we were to meet in Safeway. Say what you like about the man, and you don't neccessarily need to agree with him, but his letters to the editor get some of the most hits (posts) of any I see on here. As much as some of you may dislike Ray, his ideas or commentary, few can deny that he promotes thought and if unprovoked or attacked personally, will debate his ideas and philosophy with nearly anyone.
Maybe all of his blog hits are because he insights critical thinking, something we Americans are drifting away from. We tend to go with the status quo and insult those that have differing opinions. We don't discuss, we don't debate, we rarely even argue. When we do debate, we use emotion rather than facts. We simply attack the person, not the thought and we rarely use substantiated facts.
Please don't get me wrong! Ray is capable of flinging poo too! But it is normally instigated by a rude poster who attacks Ray personally, not the post. They will attack the writer, not the idea put forth. Many posters are unable to debate with substantiated facts or even semi educated comments and the entire blog sinks into an insult fest. I challenge bloggers to the following New Year Resolution:
1) STAY ON TOPIC (something I am not doing here, but it's not 2013 yet either)!
2) Be respectful of differring opinions and be prepared to defend your opinions with supported facts. Base your debate on facts not emotion.
3) To not be sucked into a insult fest. Be the better blogger. Don't combat insults with insults!
4) Use the internet for something other than Ebay, Facebook and Twitter! It's the information highway folks. Gather your facts from legitimate sources. For God's sake don't trust chain emails!
5) Leave a posters past out of the commentary unless it relates directly to the article or editorial. Debate an idea or topic, not a personal history.
6) Don't bash another posters grammar or spelling. If you get their point, LET IT GO! It serves no purpose!
6) HAVE AN OPEN MIND!

There have been four presidents assassinated in office. Lincoln, Garfield, McKinely and Kennedy. All four understood our monetary system and attempted to take the control of it.

Today our government, borrows money, at interest, from private banks. Banks do not have the money, they create it. Our interest paid, on the national debt, has been between $300-$500 billion yearly, depending on the interest charged.

Why should our government borrow created money rather than create interest free money as Lincoln and Kennedy did?

Most Americans fall into two groups. The Republicans/Conservatives and Democrats/Liberals. The few thinking Americans fall into two economic groups. Raise taxes on the rich or cut government expense. Either choice has doomed this nation along with any compomise.

It has been my attempt to have people think outside the box of media controlled limits of thinking.

The two real issues are the monetary system and fiscal policies of government. Compromise is not the answer. Understanding the real issues are.

I believe we are too late to change or help the behavior in Washington DC. The burden falls on Alaska.

What shall we do?

BTW, I am a Christian and believe in the “Last Days.” I will not accept that it is occurring now. I may be wrong. I just hope other Christians, who believe we are in the "Last Days", think about the consequences on future generations if they are wrong. I will do everything possible to help future generations.

Before the Bush tax cuts there WAS a surplus.Since those cuts We have had a deficit. So! after the first of the year would it not see reasonable.Things would turn for the better?I also have another question.Since there are a number of elected officials.Who signed a pledge to a civilian"Norquist" to NOT do their jobs.Do you think perjury was committed by them?Since They also pledged an oath of office to the USA.I believe. They should just Pledge Allegiance. You can not have 2 masters,or can you?
