A different approach to reducing the debt

Posted: December 16, 2012 - 3:17pm  |  Updated: December 17, 2012 - 9:54am

Let’s help the federal government, with the debt problem. Seventy percent of Alaska is owned by the federal government. At a recent town hall meeting, State Senator Cathy Giessel stated, if Alaska was a sovereign nation we would be tenth in the world in our natural resources. A Washington Post reporter suggested the federal government sell Alaska (Dec. 14, To Solve Our Debt Problems, Let’s Sell Alaska).

I am sure China would be interested in purchasing Alaska. More gold left in the ground than has been taken out. Untold mineral resources. Fish to feed their growing population.

Perhaps the people in Alaska should purchase our freedom. We have 42 billion in our permanent fund. Good down payment. We would then have access to the rest of our natural resources and could make payments. Freedom is never free. Let Alaskans purchase our land from the federal government and become one of the richest nations on the planet.

state of mind

Ray
I have in your nursing opinion a "normalcy bias".NO! I just have a different state of mind.Being Republican does not automatically make one a conservative, nor does being a Democrat make one a Liberal. This is a very narrow point of view.Which is rather a common trait.I find. When people have your state of mind.I need to know.During Bush's terms what conservative principles did he use?

You continue to look to DC to help with the deficit and spending. It is a lost cause. Just look at how the banking industry have control over the Federal economic policies. As I understand it, our 535 elected representatives have an average net worth of $7.3 million. They are bought and paid for and not by the people.

The choices we hear about, will destroy us.

What can Alaska do?

Good point. But we are told there are only two camps. You must pick one.

I do not. The camp I support, is about future generations, that should include all the people not just the two camps, Republican or Democrat-Liberal or Conservative.

What are the principles of this nation? Our love of money and that is our primary focus. After all, that is what the two choices are about. Who gets the money?

Can Alaskans step up and out from our love of money?

Alaska

First Alaskan's can quit reelecting these professional poiticians.Who display corruption,or at the least conflict of interest overtly.Alaskan's can not expect change by doing the same thing-reelecting THIEVES. Case in point Ted Stevens ADMITTING his guilt finally.

The Bushs principle was the same as Clinton’s and Obama’s. Making money. What is best for the corporation is best for America.

Alaskans elect those politicians who bring home the bacon. We love money and elect those who make sure “we get our fair share.”

Politicians are just like the rest of us. They do what is in their own self-interest. Politicians need checks and balances, like the rest of us. That was the purpose of the Constitution and codifying of the Second Amendment.

Can Alaskans step up and out from our love of money?

What about

What about BENGHAZI? Now there was some major protection of fellow members of the fraternal protectors of ALL.
As for money you know what the Bible says about the root of all EVIL is money. OOPS! Thats not what the Bible says at all, it actually says that the LOVE of money is the root of EVIL. All most everyone has the LOVE potion in mind in everything they do.
The main point is once again that the Government is not going to completely protect everyone and OUR national debt thats not the $16.5 Trillion dollars that the every turning record keeping device, it's actually around $63 Trillion total debt. Either way we are sunk as a Soverign nation and the END is nearer now that when this article started.
In the words of Ronald Reagan, Eternal life is not a Government program.

Fiscal cliff. Not so sure yet. As long as the US dollar remains the worlds Reserve Currency, our government and the banks can kick the can down the road some more.

The key to the issues you speak about, will occur, when the nations of the world reject the dollars standing among them. Right now, most countries have too many dollars in reserve to bail on us yet.

China is preparing to use their Yuan/Renminbi as the next Reserve Currency of the world. They will back it with gold. Not yet, they still have around 3 trillion of our dollars in reserve.

No nation wants to see the dollar destroyed yet. Well maybe a few, like Iran, Syria and North Korea.

at the flick of a switch

everything we think we have in securities or buying power can be removed from any and all of us. RE: Personal and National sanctions against all that don't want to play fair, or should i say by Da Rues. Yes the dollar is the worlds driving force right now and America is the driver, that could change in a heart beat at any second just by the flick of a switch. Could it come from a massive attack here on our homeland? Since 911 the threat of nation wide nukes going off in major cities has been known and even some of thoses nukes found. The peace loving folks from the middle east are already here and have been for a while just waiting for the go signal to get-r-done. Or maybe America goes into Syria and God uses Americas power to fulfill the long awaited prophecy of Damascus, Syria vanishing from existance over night, never to be inhabited again. Russia has said don't even think of going into or doing to Syria like America has done to other muslim nations. Funny how a major war after Damascus is destroyed speaks of Russia, Iran, Lybia, Sudan, Etheopia, Turkey and Israel, BUT, NO AMERICA. Maybe God did not know America the GR8 was going to rise to power like we have, or just maybe God knew that America was gonna fall as their time was done and that we would just melt into a OWO like our messiah Obama wants us to do.
Yes the dollar is the sustainer of the economic economy for now, but, that could change with just the flick of a switch and our stock market totally crashes beyound the 777 points of 2008. My question for smart people is this when the electronic credit is shut off, what other recourse do you have for survival if you have not prepared forit. Answer: You have prepared to fail and then dependance on the Govt. will be the only recourse for survival, other than become a theif and killer to survive.
Troubles are coming and we can either prepare not to fail, or fail to prepare and suffer GR8 lose of everything even life.
P.S. Gold & Silver ain't gonna help either, or for very long.
Troubles coming and UNION MEMBERS of that OWO is where we are heading and thats not a Good Union for any to join.
Good Luck as we go foreward.
