A different approach to reducing the debt

Let’s help the federal government, with the debt problem. Seventy percent of Alaska is owned by the federal government. At a recent town hall meeting, State Senator Cathy Giessel stated, if Alaska was a sovereign nation we would be tenth in the world in our natural resources. A Washington Post reporter suggested the federal government sell Alaska (Dec. 14, To Solve Our Debt Problems, Let’s Sell Alaska).

I am sure China would be interested in purchasing Alaska. More gold left in the ground than has been taken out. Untold mineral resources. Fish to feed their growing population.

Perhaps the people in Alaska should purchase our freedom. We have 42 billion in our permanent fund. Good down payment. We would then have access to the rest of our natural resources and could make payments. Freedom is never free. Let Alaskans purchase our land from the federal government and become one of the richest nations on the planet.
