'Grandparent' scam still going around

I feel a need to warn all of my fellow citizens of a scam that is going around.

I received a phone call from a person who sounded like my grandson. After the niceties of ‘How are you, etc.’, he asked me if I knew who I was talking to. I told him ‘Yes’, and gave him my grandson’s name.

He then told me what an accident he had been in, how injured he was, describing in detail. Then he said he was in jail and needed $5,000. To get out. I told him I didn’t have it, so he pressed me hard for my credit cards and wanted me to give him my financial statement. His voice actually sounded like my grandson.

When he found I wasn’t going to cooperate with him he said he’d talk to his lawyer and call me back.

Meanwhile I called my daughter who lives in the same town as my grandson. The next thing I knew my actual grandson called me back. He was OK and knew nothing about the phone call I received.

So I am writing this to warn you all to beware. He sounded so much like my grandson. I was ready to believe him. Be sure you know who your talking to.
