Librarian grateful for support

I’d like to thank my family and numerous friends who attended the last Soldotna city council meeting. You have shown your support through words, prayers,

phone calls, and emails — for that I am truly blessed. From feelings of humiliation, you gave me back my dignity.

We have seen how the government process works: the city council hires the city manager to do a difficult job of overseeing operations of the city as he sees

best for the community.

And as to my question of “why” I was terminated, the answer has come not from a verbal explanation, but from the words of the new job description posted on the city’s website. Mr. Dixson’s “vision” for the future of the library is different than what was currently in place. I personally feel that when a Department Head loses the face-to-face interaction with the people who use the library, it becomes just another sterile institution.

It has been my privilege and honor to serve the people of Soldotna for over 28 years. I’m still proud to call this community my home.
