Reason for librarian's dismissal needed

After nearly thirty years of dedicated service to this community, Terri Burdick was fired from her job at Soldotna Public Library for no discernible reason. At least, Mark Dixson, our new city manager, can’t seem to come up with one.

How is it possible that a man who has been in office only four months and has lived here less than two years has the power to make decisions that adversely affect this community? Not only was the firing unfair — Terri has never been less than an exemplary employee — but the method used — as mandated by the city council — was cruel. (As tax-paying citizens, can we do something about this rule?)

At last night’s city council meeting, so many people showed up to support Terri that some of them had to stand in the hall. At one point, Mr. Dixson commented that he didn’t take this job to be popular. You got that right, sir — you’re not.

Mr. Dixson made a statement defending his position. However, when he finished talking, we still didn’t know why he fired her. Why did you fire her, Mr. Dixson?
