Partnerships with businesses enhance education

I believe it is important to bridge our community and our students together. My students have met guest speakers or went on field trips to a variety of local businesses. Soldotna High School would like to send a big thank you to them!

Each year, we have over 15 community partnerships in our Family and Consumer Science Classes. These are: Central Peninsula Hospital, Women’s Way Midwifery, Planned Parenthood, Frontier Community Services, Alaska Department of Labor, Safeway, Mykel’s, The Duck Inn, Echo Lake Meat, Central Peninsula Food Bank, Alaska Department of Revenue/Child Support Services, LaLeche League, University of Alaska, Department of Education, Snug Harbor Seafoods.

My students have the opportunity to learn about careers and local businesses for future employment. It takes time to organize the students to visit, give tours, and come into the classroom to present. Thank you for allowing us to have a partnership with you.
