Every comment, vote counts

The issue of citizens making public comments at public meetings was discussed today. One side stated that any comment made as a exact copy word for word should not be counted as a separate individual comment but only as one vote with the same opinion of the issue.

We are a democracy, every vote counts, the majority rules. An American citizen that participates in democracy and votes has the constitutional right to expect his vote to be counted. Your vote is your public comment, your public comment is your vote, your vote is your voice.

Classic example of public comments being ignored by elected officials: term limits. Our borough assembly is arrogant enough to believe that they are more intelligent that the american citizens that vote therefore they ignore the vote for the residents of the Kenai Peninsula.
