A pitch for Bill Walker

Posted: August 23, 2013 - 9:02am

I was born and raised in Alaska and have lived here my entire life. I once thought that no one loves Alaska more than my family; a family that participates in many of the great activities our state has to offer- skiing, fishing, hunting, hiking, berry picking, etc. ...

Then I met Bill Walker.

I have known Bill and his family for 25 years, and can honestly say that he loves our state more than anyone I know. Bill, a lifelong Alaskan was born in Fairbanks and grew up in Delta Junction as well as Valdez. When Bill was 27 he served as mayor of Valdez and then attended law school. He heads up an Anchorage law firm that focuses on oil and gas issues as well as municipal law.

Bill is not running for governor to advance his political career. He is running as an independent candidate in order to insure that Alaska regains control of its natural resources and its future, without bowing to pressure from party or special interests. Bill will assemble the very best team of Alaskans, chosen for their expertise and dedication to resolve our state’s many important issues without regard to party affiliation.

Some have accused Bill of being a “single issue” candidate; that he is only concerned with getting Alaska a gas line. This could not be further from the truth. Jobs for Alaskans, education, competent fisheries management, tourism, agriculture, the environment and veteran needs are just a handful of the issues that Bill cares deeply about. I ask you to take a moment to learn more about Bill Walker by visiting his website:

By doing so, you will learn why Bill Walker is running for governor. The time is now Alaska. It is time to elect Bill Walker as our next governor.

Elect Bill Walker

8/25/13 In order to Elect Bill Walker, 1st the Un-Declared Independent Voters MUST SHOW UP & VOTE !

I don't see THAT happening anytime soon.

The Un-Declared are neither Republican or Democrat & are Morally Superior to all other Alaskans, Just Ask them.

53% of Alaskan Voters are Registered as Un-Declared Independent BUT those same Un-Declared can't be bothered with Voting. That's beneath them. & they still demand a Voice a very Loud Voice. They Refuse to participate in Democracy but demand to be heard. Representation without Participation.

If You want Bill Walker to be Our Next Governor ? 1st Ya Gotta SHOW UP & VOTE !

No substance.

Beyond promising a gas line, there is a whole lot of talk of Bill Walker 'loving' himself some 'Alaska'.

There's talk about what Bill isn't. He's not supposedly a Republican, he's not supposedly a Democrat. He says he's 'independent'. Independent of what? Independent of party politics? What, he thinks he doesn't have to work with the Legislature?

Make no mistake, Bill Walker made a career out of being a Republican. He lost on the Republican ballot against Captain Zero no less. No wonder he wants to say he's not a Republican. Even his own party wouldn't pick him.

(So now he's supposedly 'not a Republican', wink wink, least for now, or until he somehow maybe acquires another public sector job that is)

But there's more troubling aspects about Bill's 'campaign'. It's largely undefined, except by what it supposedly isn't.

See if you can find out what it is about? Not Republican? Then he ought not have any trouble denouncing the actions of the Republicans and their supposedly 'conservative' ideology. Find any evidence of that happening? Neither have I.

There's vague talk of how Bill 'cares' about several 'issues'. And?

Is there one statement which reveals Bill's proposed actions on these 'issues', That kind of info is vague or missing altogether.

Are there comprehensive policy proposals which speak to how these 'issues' are to be resolved? That would be another no.

If you go to Bill Walker's website, there is mention of Debbie Brown supporting Bill Walker. .....hmmmmmm.

If there's one or two endorsements that may tell you a bit about Bill Walker, it's that Debbie Brown and now 'bob' think he's a great choice.

That's the great thing about choices, ...they denote that there are alternatives.

Dump Parnell, elect French, repeal the oil tax giveaway, and at the same time avoid all the [filtered word] drama of who can be the most [filtered word] friendly under the radar stealth Republican to declare themselves 'independent'.

Failed policies are still going to be nonstarters, still failures even when those policies are cloaked as 'independent'.

Enough with failed Republican policies. Enough with rightwing [filtered word]y and [filtered word] extremism. They've been running that up so many flagpoles for so long it's stupefyingly ludicrous to give them another chance at more of the same.

Enough with ideological demagoguery and political obstructionism clothed as red state politics as usual. It doesn't have to happen once again. It doesn't have to happen ever again.

Let me pose a question: Since oil and gas was discovered in Alaska and up until last year, what candidate for governor ever said, if elected he wouldn't build a gas line?

(yes, it's a trick question.)

They all said they'll build a gas line. Each and every one.

BIll Walker says he'll build a gas line. betcha, I've heard that before.

if jpz doesn't like Walker

if jpz doesn't like Walker that sells it for me

Forgetting, of course, already claimed you were sold on him beforehand.

But then again, you've often demonstrated that things like time and space, or any of several physical laws for that matter, aren't going to be any hindrance in your version of reality.

That Bill Walker's campaign is devoid of substance should be right up your alley, bob.
