On Sunday, Aug. 18, our families were honored by a celebration in memory of our sons, SSg. David Douthit and Prt. Spencer Reeder, and their military service by the Wounded Warrior Association and the American Veterans from David Douthit Post 4. A special thanks to Dale Dolifka and the local Wounded Warrior group who made made this special day, in the beautiful new park, possible for our families and close friends.
A very special thanks to Am Vet Chaplain Marti Hal, Veteran Herb Stettler and our local Veterans for their kind words and very meaningful ceremony, flag posting and gun salute.
Our favorite Alaskan Balladeer, Hobo Jim, honored our families and guests with the National Anthem and a special song for the occasion.
The culmination of the ceremony was the unveiling of the spectacular wooden bench and marble plaques that were made, with love, by local builders Jeff Twait, Stix Jenkins and Clint Hall. Our families were so touched by the kindness of these men — what an honor to see our sons remembered in such a special and thoughtful way.
A big Alaskan thanks to all of you.
