LeeShore RadioThon fundraiser successful

The LeeShore Center is very grateful for the generous community support during our 25th KSRM Radiothon fundraiser on September 9th. Cash and in-kind contributions pledged during Radiothon are used to support the agency’s services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in our local community. Although we still have contributions coming in, total cash and in-kind donated is $27,000 to date.

The success of our fundraising event was made possible by the hard work of many individuals who graciously gave of their time and energy to help. While we were on-air at KSRM providing information and education on domestic violence, sexual assault and LeeShore services, LeeShore board members were busy in the community, collecting donations and pledges.

Our sincere thanks and appreciation goes out to all those who helped make our fundraising efforts such a success: Jennifer Joanis, Dorothy Gray, Jan Daniels, Linda Swanson, Jesse Scott, Justin Carr, Nate Kiel, and the Kenai Brown Bears. Thank you to LeeShore staff Barbara Waters, Kathy Tomrdle, Darla Rosing, Nona Leigh and Jennette Browning for your hard work copying posters, manning phone lines at KSRM, taking pledges and processing paperwork.

Special appreciation and recognition goes to Sweeney’s Clothing, ERA Aviation, Greg Daniels, the Auto Spa, Halcyon Salon, Radio Shack, Senator Mark Begich, and Jumpin’ Junction for providing outstanding raffle prizes. Proceeds from their generous donations totaled over $4,000 in cash.

Thank you to New Beginnings Kenai Gym, Jumpin’ Junction, Stanley Chrysler, and Stanley Ford for providing space for donation drop-off.

Our special thanks to those who participated as RadioThon guest speakers: Chief Gus Sandahl (KPD), Capt. Andrew Greenstreet (AST), Chief Peter Mylarnik (SPD), and Lisa Roberts (United Way).

Thanks also to our on-air host Senator Peter Micciche, and his staff member Larry Semmons, KSRM General Manger Matt Wilson for donating use of the KSRM facility and air time, and Dr. Steve Hileman for his Radiothon poster artwork contribution.

On behalf of our board of directors and staff, thank you all! We appreciate the generosity of businesses and community members in our local area. Thanks for supporting our efforts to end domestic violence and sexual assault in the central peninsula.
