Medicaid expansion would be positive action

Governor Parnell must relent on his refusal of a legitimate use of the public trust — and its “will” — to build his legacy, by anyone’s evaluation.

Medicaid expansion in Alaska under the Affordable Care Act would be a helpful, positive tradition for which that legacy could be emboldened. Any legacy for him now is completely the result of our level of public trust (a level symbolized by the value of our treasury, both here and the same in every other state across the Nation). That’s by any account, no matter how “trust” is defined! I think the Governor and his colleagues have deluded themselves into cynically believing they are just “sneakier” at scamming our trust. Life in the ‘sneak’ world is unnecessary, banal, and ultimately self-destructive.

It’s time Parnell chose for the public good and human development, rather than his confederate good and human devolution. I know I’d prefer to have a happy — and “healthy” — free mortality as my legacy, regardless of its influence on human-development!
