Soldotna street department saves Christmas

Last week as I excitedly drove to the Soldotna Senior Center for the Christmas party and to see Santa, I noticed the snow berm in the middle of Park Avenue in front of the Center. I thought, how can the seniors get into the Center’s parking lot without getting stuck, to see Santa and get their Christmas gifts? Then I got really scared. How could Santa land his sleigh in that narrow lane without hurting the reindeer or damaging his sleigh? Christmas for the seniors was doomed.

I grabbed a phone and called the Soldotna Street Department. A wonderful young lady answered, and after I explained the dilemma, she said she could help. She called her boss who drove to Park Avenue and he ordered the fantastic gentlemen that run that huge snow blower and trucks to clear the road off for Santa’s landing. Within 30 minutes, the street was cleared, the seniors got to the Center, Santa landed safely and the presents were handed out. The ladies and gentlemen at the Street Department “Saved Christmas!” Thank you, thank you, thank you.
