Community comes together for students

To our wonderful and generous parents, staff, and community!

On April 5, Sterling Elementary Mrs. McKinley’s 5th Grade class held two fundraisers for our planned field trip to Kasitsna Bay Lab in Seldovia. Our first, a bake sale at Sterling Elementary and our second, a spaghetti dinner at the Sterling Senior Center brought together families, staff, and community.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to Sterling! Without the support of parents bringing in bake goods and the supplies for our spaghetti dinner, and for being there to assist our class for both fundraisers, we would not have been able to accomplish our goal. A special thanks to the Sterling Senior Center for donating the Center and those seniors who graciously donated their time to help. And thank you for everyone who attended either the bake sale and/or the spaghetti dinner. Your contributions helped make our day a success!

My biggest thanks go to my students, who are always there for me, step up to every one of my challenges, and exceed my expectations!

We couldn’t have done it without all of you! Kasitsna Bay Lab – Here we come!
