Begich comments 'out of touch'

Posted: July 11, 2014 - 8:11am

The July 1 Clarion printed the comments by Rep. Don Young and Sen. Mark Begich on the U.S. Supreme Court’s Hobby Lobby decision. The Begich comment saying “bosses should not be able to prevent access to family planning and birth control is disingenuous and typical. From what I’ve read, Hobby Lobby offers in their employee health plan 16 different forms of birth control. The remaining four are in the “morning after” category, and it is those which they regard as a form of abortion and refuse to pay for.

Point two is, whatever happened to personal responsibility in this country? If a company offers you a wide range of birth control options and you choose not to take advantage of it, why should they be responsible for your irresponsible decisions?

Begich’s comment calling the Court’s decision “out of touch” was both laughable and disingenuous. Voting 97 percent of the time with an incompetent president and his scandal-ridden and corrupt administration is what I’d call “out of touch.”

Obstructionist Republicans

I guess this letter writer likes a do-nothing Congress. I don't. That's not what we pay them for. As for your stupid 97% of the time, gee, ya think cuz Begich is a Democrat? Obama Hate is getting old and people are getting tired of it. Just say you hate Blacks and be done with it.

Percentages

Just two weeks ago the percentage was only 90%. Well! The people responsible for these adds are running the EXACT same adds in the lower 48.Where do they get these figures? I am also upset at the percentage of "PLEDGE SIGNER'S". That had voted to "SHUT DOWN THE COUNTRY". Now! I am going to go out on a limb here, and say. It is 100%. These are people. Who committed TREASON by signing the pledge.I bet. That action was O.K. with you though. Voting party lines is not illegal.Pledging to shut down my country is treason. So! Who is truly out of touch?

Speaking of out of touch,

the letter writer starts off with some right wing spin about the Hobby Lobby ruling that's simply not factual.

From there the writer devolves into unfounded supposition and finishes with more wingnut mythology.

Pay no heed to the out of touch complaining that others are out of touch. As you can see in this instance, how would they know since they're so out of touch they can only echo right wing mythology.

The Affordable Care Act,

has been shown to be successful so many times and in so many ways, that Republican lawmakers and the Republican leadership are no longer talking about their failure to sway the general public.

Oh, there's a few uninformed individuals out there who still echo the propaganda, (witness rwhobby, speaking of the 'out of touch'), but the Republican leadership knows they've lost that storyline and you don't hear them trying to campaign by continuing their lies about the Affordable Care Act, it's too successful and their anti-healthcare stance has become an embarrassment to the right wing.

It's Really going to make you mad when the republican candidate bloodbath in the primary gives Begich all the ammunition he needs to win the election. As if he needs it.There has only been one incumbent besides Ted Stevens( he was appointed to his first term) to lose a national seat in congress since Alaska became a state. Frank Murkowski beat Mike Gravel,we traded a nut bag for a crooked banker.
I knew Nick Begich,he was an honest man and an honorable one and had integrity, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. To bad he and the speaker of the house were killed in that plane wreck, almost as bad was Don Young being was appointed to take his place.
Ah, the power of the incumbency in Alaska.
