Annual job fair a success

To all who came to the Peninsula Job Fair, we say, a big thank you for making this annual event a success!

The Peninsula Job Fair was held on March 28 at the Peninsula Job Center with 670 job seekers and 55 employers present at the event.

Our gratitude goes out to our sponsors who helped provide a location, supplies, advertisement, food, and refreshments: John Crump with Denali Commercial, Soldotna Chamber of Commerce, Kenai Chamber of Commerce, Alaska Small Business Association, Peninsula Clarion, and Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development. Additionally, we would like to thank the US military for assisting with the setup of the job fair, and Sweeney’s and Dairy Queen for advertising the job fair on their reader boards.

Thank you to our partners, Kenai Peninsula Borough School District Superintendent, Sean Dusek, Director of Secondary Education and Student Activities, John O’Brien, District Counselor/Specialist, Sara Moore, and the principals, counselors and teachers of Soldotna, Kenai, and Nikiski high schools for partnering with the Peninsula Job Center and providing student transportation to the Peninsula Job Fair. By allowing Peninsula Job Center staff to work with students, we were able to assist them in searching for employment opportunities in line with their educational goals and career objectives and learn directly from employers their job requirements and expectations.

We would especially like to acknowledge all of the employers and training providers who participated in the job fair: Alaska Jobs Corps, Alaska Native Tribal Consortium, Alaska Division of Forestry, Alaska State Troopers, Anchorage Police Department., AT&T, AVTEC, Beacon Training Center, Boys and Girls Club, Central Peninsula Hospital, CH2MHill, Crowley Marine Services, First Student, Fred Meyer, Frontier Community Services, Great Pacific Seafoods, Hilcorp, Home Depot, Heavy Equipment College of California, Hope Community Resources, Inlet Fish, Kenai Peninsula Care Center, Kenai Peninsula College, Kenai Peninsula Borough School District, Kenai River Brown Bears, Kenaitze, Local 367/Plumbers/Steamfitters, MASST, Microcom, Midnight Sun Peonies, NANA Management, Northern Industrial Training, Office Tech, Offshore Systems, Pacific Star Seafood, Peninsula Clarion, Peninsula Community Health Services, Porterhouse Grill, ResCare, Safeway, Snug Harbor, Sportsmen’s Warehouse, State of Alaska Juvenile Justice, State of Alaska Pile Drivers and Carpenters Union, Tesoro, UAS School of Management, University of Alaska Southeast, US Army, US Marines, US Navy, USAF Reserve, US Army National Guard, Walgreens, Walmart, Westward Seafood’s and Wipro Technologies.
