Support makes for successful game warden camp

This past weekend, the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge hosted the 2015 Youth Game Warden camp.

Forty 4th-, 5th-, and 6th-graders met and learned about the interesting job of a game warden. This interactive camp included wildlife forensics, GPS/map and compass, archery, fishery and wildlife management techniques, antlers and duck identification, wildlife decoys, meeting canine officer ‘Rex,’ Redman fun, boating safety, air rifle shooting, and interactive field contacts with game wardens.

This great opportunity would not have been possible without the many partners who helped to instruct or provided equipment to support the camp. My thanks to the Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Alaska State Parks, Alaska Department of Fish & Game, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, U.S. Forest Service, Friends of the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge, Spenard Builders Supply-Kenai, Kenai Peninsula 4H Chapter, Newman’s Own Organics, the Challenger Learning Center, and Save U More.
