Many hands keep electronics out of landfill

Thank you to all of the community members, volunteers, and sponsors who helped make the 9th annual Electronics Recycling Event a success. 83 households, 1 business, and 3 nonprofits brought in 10,912 pounds of material. That’s over 5 tons of electronics that will be reclaimed, repurposed, and recycled into more products and electronics.

There were changes in major sponsors for this event and we are so thankful to these entities who stepped in to assure success for our community event. Dr. Bote made a significant donation to cover the cost of the materials brought in by households. Thank you Dr. Bote! Triangle Recycling and Peterkin Distributors provided the haulback services.

ReGroup organized the event and provided volunteers. Kenai Peninsula Solid Waste provided the facility and Bruce Briggs, James VanBruggen and Brian Conrad assisted with the event. Thank you Kaladi Bros. and Totally Radish for food and drinks.

Volunteers who collected, sorted, and kept records included Lisa Beranek, Jennifer Curry, MaryAnn Dyke, Andrew Hanahan, Paula Laurion, Deric Marcorelle, Eddie Ranson, Henry Smith, Robert Stiver, Krista Timlin, and Jan Wallace. Young people who worked diligently were Ethan Bott, Gavin Goggia, John Grossl, and Ivy Brooke Kent.

Congratulations go to all entities that contributed to the success of Electronics recycling. Remember to stockpile electronics that you are not using for the next collection.
