Nobody welcomes the presence of drunk drivers on our highways. Every sane driver knows or should know the devastating consequences of getting a DUI. We have all seen the lives of people we know or love be torn apart by the consequences of a DUI. Future job choices can be totally derailed or you could never be given the chance to earn a decent living, having generational effects on families, homes, and the community at large.

To all who came to the Peninsula Job Fair, we say, thank you. You are the reason this event was a success.

The Peninsula Job Fair was the place to be on Wednesday, March 27th with over 792 job seekers and employers present at the event.

Our gratitude goes out to our sponsors who helped provide a location, supplies, advertisement, food, and refreshments: John Crump with Denali Commercial, Soldotna Chamber of Commerce, Kenai Chamber of Commerce, Peninsula Clarion, Wal-Mart and Alaska Department of Labor.

On the evening of May 9th the Kenai-Soldotna Fish and Game Advisory Committee had an emergency meeting with approximately 70 people in attendance. The participants were comprised of a diverse group of fishing guides, commercial fisherman, sport fisherman, and business owners. The topic of the evening was an emergency order that was arbitrarily and capriciously issued by ADF&G on the afternoon of May 9th. This order changed the management plan for the early run of chinook salmon on the Kenai River to catch and release only.

The hearing on Benghazi and the attack of 9/11/12 are currently being conducted in Washington D.C. The testimony that is being given is from “people on the ground at the time.” The implication that this is a hearing implies that there is listening being done. The politicos are not doing everything they might to make the event a hearing as some are not listening to the testimony but rather rebutting what the witnesses saw heard and participated in. With all do respect they are not there for rebuttal but to listen as would be implied by a hearing.
