The Soldotna High School Class of 2014 wishes to thank everyone for their help and support in making SoHi’s “Venetian Masquerade” prom an enjoyable and memorable night for all who attended.

Many area businesses continue ongoing support of Soldotna High School. Pizza Boys and Ginny Smithwick, Magic Moments Photography and Sharon and Terry, Home Depot and Shane, Trustworthy Hardware and Guy Hayes, Morgan Steel and Alaska Steel all donated products to help make our prom successful. We genuinely appreciate their support.

The students and staff of Redoubt Elementary would like to thank the following organizations and individuals for participating in our first ever Family Health and Safety Night: The 4- H, Bill Withrow, Nurse Donna Cotman, Central Emergency Services, Safe kids, The Coast Guard, Central Peninsula Hispital, Rachel Grossel, Soldotna Police department, Division of Forestry, The Soldotna Chamber, and Dr. Chris Hudson. We are all extremely grateful for your time and all of the generous give-aways.

This community really supports our youth. Recently, many of Kenai Central High School’s teenagers got dressed in their finest attire and celebrated an American tradition: Prom. For years, KCHS parents of prom-goers have sponsored After Prom, a safe, fun-filled activity where teens spend most of the evening following the dance. On behalf of the parents, I would like to highlight the area’s people and businesses that made this happen.

I’d like to thank the Soldotna Rotary Club for sending care packages to our son Thomas Semmens and his Army Alaska National Guard Unit in Kuwait. Last week I asked my daughter-in-law how our son was doing since we haven’t heard from him the last month while he is in Kuwait. She said they are living in tents in the middle of sand and he sounded down. Then a few days later I asked her if she had heard from him again and she said he was much happier since they had received packages from the Soldotna Rotary Club.
