Last (week)'s CPGH Inc. Board meeting was one not to miss! It turns out that the current and former CEOs of CPGH (ie. The Board) has misled two independent Radiation Oncologists to purchase land and invest in a free-standing cancer center only to learn that CPGH has made a "business decision" to "offer a duplicate in services" and build their own cancer center. The Board is now proposing to build a multi-million dollar radiation oncology facility for the purpose of leasing it. Since when is it CPGH's responsibility to be landlords?

Is snow removal necessary ? After the last snow dump, just out of curiousity, I drove around my neighborhood to see how many of my neighbors make the time to do snow removal at their property. Much to my surprise, I found it was about half and half -- half make the time for snow removal half do not do snow removal. Many driveways had not been touched all winter long.

Many Alaskans believe that snow removal must be done, other Alaskans think it's a waste of time, effort and money and not necessary. Who is correct here?

Citizens of the Kenai Peninsula Borough recently made it clear that they did not want our Central Peninsula Hospital to be sold or join in a joint venture. I thought a partnership might be advantageous, but since the borough still owns our hospital, it must protect its assets.

If $20 million (or even much less) per year is diverted from the hospital's revenues, it will have a major negative impact on our citizens' tax bills and on the City of Soldotna and Kenai Peninsula Borough having funding to provide services. 

Central Peninsula Health Foundation would like to thank Soldotna Fred Meyer customers and associates for donating $1,292.63 in support of local cancer patients. The Soldotna Fred Meyer store accepted donations at check stand collection boxes from Nov. 3 through Dec. 3, 2011. These funds will help provide direct support and treatment for local Kenai Peninsula cancer patients.
