We would like to take the time to thank the many people and organizations that made the First Annual Tesoro Alaska Daubenspeck Park Pond Hockey Tournament a success. First, we would like to thank our Sponsor, Tesoro Alaska, for their generous financial support. Also, the City of Kenai and their employees Bob Frates, Alex Koch and Chris Konig who worked tirelessly to assure that the Daubenspeck Park Pond was in perfect shape for the tournament.

For many years nations had a three-mile territorial limit based on the distance a cannon ball could fly. Unfortunately, three miles was insufficient to protect U.S. fish. Japanese hunters and fishermen entered Alaskan waters by 1905. In June of that year the Revenue Cutter Perry found four Japanese schooners at Attu Island. They had 6,500 salmon on board, a partially-built floating trap and a shore camp.

The Kaleidoscope School of Arts and Science Art Piece Committee sends heartfelt thanks to the sponsors, donors and volunteers who made the Fiesta in February a phenomenal success. Your generous contributions were essential in meeting the goal of moving on to the exciting second phase of the project: the much-anticipated “call to artists”!
