It is very sad that some people think the word “GOD” should be removed from all things in our good old country. Why are they so selfish? Just close your ears and eyes, in the first depression, religion was the glue that held this country together. There was no money, but almost all activities were supplied by the churches and the gatherings and social activities. In a recent look at my H.S. Yearbooks, for 1946 through 1950, I looked at all my teachers and student friends. I believe 90 percent of my fellow students attended church.

I would like to thank the people who helped me Monday July 25 when my wheel fell off of my car at the corner of K-Beach and the Sterling Highway at Mile 110 Kasilof.

Thank you to the young man who appeared out of no where to pick up my wheel and move it out of the way and to ask me repeatedly if I was okay and to turn my flashers on.

Thanks to the truck driver and all those who were behind him for your patience while I picked up my lug nuts.

Thank you to the trooper who stopped to make sure that I was okay even tho you were on your way to a fatal accident in Ninilchik.

I am writing in response to “Broken System” (Clarion, Aug. 21), an article referencing the increased activity on behalf of our law enforcement staff in attempting to remove drunk drivers from our roads. Specifically, I would like to comment on the views of our public defender, William Taylor.

The annual Old Timers Luncheon has come and gone, we hope all who did attend had a great time, visiting old friends while enjoying a delicious meal. From the sounds of the chatter the crowded room was full of happy old timers.

Thanks to the Senior Center with Rachel and her staff for all the extra work and confusion a affair of this size creates. They did, as always provide everything we needed which made for delightful lunch fun.
