Term limits go to voters
Two controversial ballot measures seeking to set strict term limits on Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly and Kenai Peninsula Borough Board of Education seats could have profound effects on the futures of those bodies if approved by voters in the Oct. 2 municipal election.
Prop 1 would cap senior exemption
Since 1987, Kenai Peninsula Borough senior citizens have enjoyed an unlimited exemption from paying property taxes on the value of their primary residences.
Propositions 2 & 3: Term limits: Limiting time serves public better
Elections are all about public trust. In 1992 and '93, borough voters trusted the election process and imposed term limits on the borough mayor, assembly and school board. In every case, voters overwhelmingly supported term limits. To see the history of term limits in this borough visit the Web site: www.ACT-KPB.org.
Propositions 2 & 3: Term limits: Effects could reverse voting goal
I encourage everyone to give careful consideration to Kenai Peninsula Borough Propositions No. 2 and 3, the term limit propositions. I strongly encourage a "No" vote on both propositions.
