The American Legion Twins were swept in a doubleheader Wednesday against Fairbanks at Coral Seymour Memorial Park in Kenai. Both games counted toward league competition.

Fairbanks took the first game 11-1 and the second 9-5. The losses put the Twins at 6-10 overall and 6-6 in league play.

Twins assistant coach Gresham Oliver, who couldn't immediately supply stats, said Fairbanks scored eight runs over the first two innings against Twins starter AJ Hull.

The game was slated for nine innings, but called after five thanks to the 10-run mercy rule. The Twins scored their only run in the bottom of the first, said Oliver, who served a one-game suspension for being ejected in a game over the weekend.

"It wasn't a good day at all," Oliver said. "We didn't play well at all."

In Game 2, Fairbanks got the best of Twins pitcher Kevin Rowe, who took the loss.

That game went the full seven innings for which it was scheduled.

The Twins travel to Anchorage for a 12:30 p.m. doubleheader against West on Saturday.
