Anderson, McBride lead Kenai Peninsula Open after Day 1

Pros Brian Anderson and John McBride fired rounds of even-par 70 on Saturday to take the lead after the first day of the two-day Kenai Peninsula Open at Birch Ridge Golf Course.


Also in the pros category, Rich Lundahl was at 71, Rob Nelson was at 72, Hunter Blake was at 73 and Nolan Rose was at 74. Bill Engberg, Brandon Kaiser and Travis Jorgenson were at 78. Finally, Tom Walsh had an 81 and George Collum had an 85.

Beau Forrest leads the amateurs at 74, while Marcus Dolejsi is at 75, Mike Edwards is at 81, Spencer Tachick is at 84, Eddie Sibolboro is at 87 and George Stein and Lee Frey are at 88. Also for the amateurs, Scott Jackson is at 89, George Stein and Tyler Yamada are at 91, Sid Cox is at 95, Gary Dawkins is at 102 and Gene Diamond is at 112.

Ardie Crawford leads the women at 78, while Tanna Chenault is second at 86 and Leona Jackson is third at 95. Also for the women, Rita Geller is at 101, Sue Stein and Lisa Parker are at 103, and Carolyn Schaefer is at 112.

Carver, Hardy lead Donald Morgan Memorial
Tommy Carver and Ryan Hardy finished atop the leader board on Day 1 of the Donald Morgan Memorial at the Kenai Course on Saturday.

Carver shot a 76 to grab the lead in the gross division, while Hardy's 69 was good for the top spot in the net division.

Ken Liedes enters Day 2 holding second place in both divisions, shooting a gross-78 and a net-71 Saturday. Jesse Wade is in third in both divisions. He shot an 80 in gross competition and a 72 in net.
