Valdez tops Seward football

Dylan Kompkoff returned a fumble 25 yards for a touchdown on the game's opening kickoff, and Valdez used a 14-point third quarter to pull away for a 26-6 Greatland Conference victory at Seward on Saturday.

Valdez improves to 1-1 overall and 1-0 in Greatland competition. Seward drops to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the Greatland.

Brandon Hursch scored twice for Valdez, hauling in a 6-yard pass and running 55 yards for another score.

Seward's lone score came on an 8-yard run from Dezi Smith.
