The Soldotna volleyball team defeated Kodiak on Friday and Saturday at Soldotna.
The Stars notched a Northern Lights Conference victory Friday. The scores were 17-25, 25-16, 25-17 and 25-23. It was the NLC opener for Soldotna.
Soldotna coach Bruce King wrote in an email that his team was able to get quality swings thanks to good passing and good sets. He said Kodiak was able to come up with quality digs, but that the Stars did a good job of keeping up the pressure.
Kaillee Skjold had 10 kills and five blocks for the Stars. Langi Wong had seven kills, while Sydney Goggia had six kills and five blocks.
Kylee Woodford led with 21 digs, while Kaycee Munn had nine and Julie Litchfield added eight. Heidi Westerman had 13 assists, while Litchfield had eight.
In service aces, Goggia had four and Westerman and Munn each had three.
On Saturday, the Stars improved to 2-0 overall with a nonconference victory against the Bears. The scores were 25-20, 22-25, 26-24, 13-25 and 15-8.
Skjold had 19 kills, while Goggia had 10 kills and five blocks (two stuff), and Munn had nine kills and 11 digs.
Woodford led with 37 digs. Litchfield had six aces, while Goggia added four aces. Westerman had 18 assists, while Litchfield added 16.
The Stars host Nikiski on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
