Skyview volleyball comes back to top Nikiski

The Skyview volleyball team defeated host Nikiski 20-25, 25-23, 25-12 and 25-22 in nonconference action Thursday.

 

Amanda McDowell paced the Panthers with 24 kills, eight digs and seven service points, while Mary Hauptman added seven digs and six service points. With the win, the Panthers improved to 4-0 overall.

"I want to give Nikiski credit. They came to play and were much improved since the first time we played them," Skyview coach Sheila Kupferschmid said. "Everything improved for them - serve, pass, block, hit."

Marlee Cunningham chipped in eight kills, while Cheyenne Laber posted 10 kills and six service points. Britanie Whipple chipped in with 10 digs and seven service points.

Skyview hosts Homer at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Nikiski visits Kenai Central at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
