Winners announced for Senior Amateur

 

Eddie Sibolboro, Pat Cowan and Denise Cox won gross titles at the 27th Annual Peninsula Senior Amateur, which was held Friday and Saturday at Birch Ridge Golf Course.

Sibolboro won the Junior-Senior Division (ages 50 to 64) with a two-day gross total of 160 on the par 70 course. Sibolboro shot par on the second day of the tournament. The low net winner in the division was Steve Tachick, with a 146.

Pat Cowan was the winner in the Senior Division (age 65 and over). He had a gross total of 168. Chuck Rider took low net at 132.

The Ladies Division went to Denise Cox.

The long-drive title went to Mike Hollingsworth. Closest to the pin on No. 6/15 was Tachick. Rider took closest to the pin on No. 8/17.

Kenai’s Miles scores twice

Brandon Miles continued to have a solid senior season at running back for Bemidji State University, an NCAA Division II school in Minnesota.

Miles scored twice on Saturday in a 41-10 win over Southwest Minnesota, running his career touchdown total to 10. He had 45 yards on nine carries in the contest.

The Beavers improved to 3-0 and cracked the American Football Coaches’ Association Division II Coaches’ Top 25 Poll for the first time since 2007. They are ranked No. 24.
