Fall is in the air at Birch Ridge Golf Course

Even though all leagues are "officially" over, the seniors and ladies continue to play Mondays and Tuesdays.

Monday saw 10 senior men come to play at 10:30 a.m. as we had a frost delay and had to wait for 30 minutes for the frost to come off the greens.

Low net was split three ways between Pat McElroy, Don McGhee and John Davis. The longest putt went to Don McGhee. Closest to the pin on No. 6 went to Sid Cox and to John Davis on No. 8.

The seniors will continue to play on Mondays, weather permitting.

The ladies of the morning league had seven participants Tuesday and they didn't start until 11 a.m. due to a frost delay. The format for play was Bingo, Bango, Bongo and the winners were Denise Cox and Tanya Boedeker.

Low gross was Denise Cox and the ladies said goodbye to snow-birder Sandi Poe. The final comment made by the ladies was, "Keep your head down and your rear up". Next week, the ladies will play at 11 a.m., weather permitting.

The Cold Weather Classic was Sept. 24, and we had 32 players (16 couples) participate. The Norwegian candles were burning, but now necessary as the weather was fantastic.

Del Hoagland had the long drive for men and Lore Weimer had the long drive for women. Low gross went to Dan and Linda Murphy with an 80, and second low gross went to Tom and Judy Walsh with an 81.

Pat and Myrna Cowan won low net with an 82-20.5 for a 60.5, and second low net went to Dave and Sharon Keating with a 90-25.5 for a 64.5.

The Birch Ridge Golf Course Pro-Shop will continue to stay open with tee times from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and we'll be changing hours according to the available daylight.

Please call 262-5270 for tee times and to check on the weather.
