Soldotna netters take 2nd at Dimond Service tourney

The Soldotna volleyball team took second at the 2011 Dimond Service Volleyball Tournament on Saturday in Anchorage.


The tournament is loaded with the best teams in the state. In the finals, the Stars fell to Dimond 13-25, 25-17 and 7-15.


Kaillee Skjold and Kylee Woodford made the all-tournament team for the Stars. For Skyview, Amanda McDowell made the all-tournament team.


Earlier in the day, Soldotna advanced to the finals by defeating Skyview in the quarterfinals and East in the semifinals. The Stars topped the Panthers 24-26, 25-23 and 15-7. SoHi defeated the Thunderbirds 17-25, 25-15 and 15-2.
